100GB 4K Blu-ray Outed Ahead Of Official BDA Announcement

HDTVtest: Singulus Technologies, a manufacturer of optical disc replication equipment, appears to have blown the cover of the next-gen 4K Blu-ray Disc format ahead of any official announcement by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA). The company has just announced the BLULINE III, a machine capable of replicating triple-layer 100GB Blu-ray Discs.

With a Blu-ray film dropping other language tracks, extras, etc you can shrink the size of a file from about 50gb to 25-30 without losing quality.

4k movies on the other hand are 100gb plus which is just crazy when you try to wrap your head around it. Now this figure I believe is referring to standard 90 minute films - imagine the raw size of say The Return of the King Extender edition!
