Steve Jobs’ Widow, Laurene Jobs, Takes Serious Interest in a News Media Site

News Claimer: Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple’s famous visionary Steve Jobs, has backed the ambitious news media site named Ozy Media.

The reason why she has chosen to take part in it might have something to do with that. Ozy’s founder, after all says ”It’s almost a crime that there is not a new information source that we truly love. And I mean love in the way Apple fans truly love Apple, or in the way HBO fans have loved HBO.”

I don't believe she quite understands the news media industry. It is about quality, sure, but it is a lot more about volume and quantity of news per day.

They can't succeed with only "couple of hand picked quality articles" per day. It just doesn't scale.

There goes Steve Jobs' money. But I like the fact that she's a philanthropist. At least she uses his money in a good way he maybe never did.

Actually, only after he passed away, some people admitted that he was in fact donating money to various charities, except he didn't want that to be so public, because he didn't do it for the publicity.

Bill Gates on the other sites donates billions. And I don't care about the reason why he does it, he just does it and it's a great help to humanity.

WTF are you talking about Draper? Bill Gates has done so much philanthropic work and uses most of his current investments in Microsoft just for that.

To think Steve Jobs was man who believed software should be free and Bill Gates who believed software should be charged for.

History would have been much different if either Mike Markkula or Michael Scott had not insisted Apple charged high prices for its hardware/software. People think to this day Apple started out high pricing its tech but had it not been for the 1st investors things might have been very different.

Why say that in conversation here:

Well Bills Gates obsession with money made him a well known billionaire who could splash the cash anywhere.

As for Steve jobs who was paid $1 a year salary by Apple. Was secretly a billionaire, who gave money to charity but didn't make a song and dance out of it.

The fact one man loved money i.e Bill showed Microsoft's true core while Steve for Apple showed its core as being a company who believed in free but was forced by investors at the time of IBM.
