SlashGear - BlackBerry needs a new smartphone for the mass market, and the BlackBerry Q5 is its attempt to deliver. Cheaper than the Q10, though offering another sturdy QWERTY keyboard for text-addicts, the Q5 pares back the specifications (and, it has to be said, the design) to boost the BlackBerry 10 line-up by 50-percent.
Engadget - BlackBerry has resurrected the Curve range with a decent mid-range device. It’s just a shame the designers scrimped on the keyboard.
Forbes: The Q5 is now launching in emerging markets – and at a price level that is raw folly. After the May quarter volume disappointment, it seems highly likely that BlackBerry priced the Q10 and Z10 too high. What the company needs is a staunch Curve upgrade; a cheap, cheerful smartphone that would shore up BlackBerry’s position in Middle East, Africa and South-East Asia.

Alternately, there's BlackBerry's new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone featuring a QWERTY keyboard with discrete keys in a "stunning youthful design that is confident, fun, and bold," according to Canadian handset maker. Yep, the marketing spin is in full effect on this one.
