The fact that so many of those companies used similar denials with words like "no direct access" is a bit of a hint here. If there was no data sharing at all, wouldn't it make sense to say "we have never provided the govt *any* access to our data".
Instead, you end up with an awkward, but carefully measured statement. Apple said they never heard of Prism, but they could have just been providing data to some other govt intermediary instead, which then worked with Prism.
Many of these spokesmen sound like Bill Clinton denying involvement with Monica Lewinsky.
