Maximum PC: Convenience is the name of the game, and today more than ever, mobility is playing a huge factor in consumers' buying decisions for electronic devices. Gadget makers are answering the call, and in the first quarter of 2013, they shipped more than 300 million mobile devices around the world, according to the latest data published by Canalys, a market research and analysis firm.
Maximum PC: Lenovo's been the number one supplier of PCs (in terms of shipments) for several quarters now, having shoved aside Hewlett-Packard to take the top spot. However, that hasn't been the case (until now) if you talk to Canalys, which clumps tablets into the PC category.
Maximum PC: Consumers are no longer buying tablets in record numbers. Instead, tablet shipments slipped 5 percent sequentially to 48.4 million units during the second quarter, according to data released by Canalys. Apple still leads the tablet market, but had its weakest quarter since Q1 2012 with just under 13.3 million iPad shipments. Meanwhile, Samsung shipped 8.9 million tablets during the quarter, which also represents a sequential decline.

Maybe you poked around but got spooked by the price tags. 3D printing is a relatively new thing in the consumer sector, and even many of the lower priced models are still cost prohibitive. Be that as it may, there's definitely interest in the category. According to Canalys, 3D printing is gaining significant traction among consumers thanks in part to several crowdfunded efforts.
I heard those Spools of plastic to feed the 3D printer cost about $50 each. More if they glow in the dark or are UV. I want a 3D printer than can use the shredded plastic from all those Water and Soda bottles people be throwing away so I can refill it for free.
