Samsung Reportedly Readying Octa-Core Nexus 11 Tablet

Maximum PC: "Given Google's unwillingness to disclose sales figures pertaining to its Nexus tablets, we are left with no other choice but to rely on educated guesses by market analysts like Enders Analysis strategy consultant Benedict Evans, who recently estimated the total sales of Nexus 7 to be around 6.8 million units and that of the Nexus 10 around one-tenth as much. Evans’ Nexus 10 sales estimate in particular, if it bears any truth, is nothing to write home about. But, if a new rumor is to be believed, Nexus 10 manufacturer Samsung may be working on redeeming itself by launching the world’s first octa-core tablet."

Wish it was "true" eight-core chip, rather than dynamically switching between two quad-core parts based on load. Then again, it's not as though content consumption-based tablets truly need a boatload of simultaneous cores for what they're intended to do.

Google needs to put more work into optimizing the OS for multi-core.

Andorid does what it needs to, its down to the software devs to take advantage of that instead of sloppy optimisation (or lack of, most kit is seriously over powered for what is required of it)that whores system resources and saps the battery in the process.

If the story is true and the Nexus 10 didn't sell well, I wonder if adding more cores will solve the problem for Samsung...
