As someone in professional school, I could never see myself replacing my lenovo y400 with a tablet or a smartphone. There's just way too many things I use it for that I could not do on anything else.
The pc won't die out, it's just that all the little kids, elderly, and moms who want to just casually go online to browse the web and check email can now do so via other forms.
But the second those kids get to college and serious work is needed done, tablets won't help there. Though I do see some people in class using tablets to take notes, but it really doesn't look comfortable from where I sit.
