Foss Force: Guess what? We’re hearing reports this morning that the black hats are continuing to take advantage of security vulnerabilities in Java. Of course they are. That’s what black hats do. We’re also hearing from security experts that browser side Java isn’t likely to be made secure in the near future.
RIP Java plug-in.
Now that Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari don't support plug-ins anymore, Oracle thought it best to accept the Java plug-in's fate and let it go.
Absolutely can't wait. Both the Java and Flash plugins cause nothing but issues. Can we please replace Shockwave with something that doesn't crash if you so much as breathe on it next?
What's worse than stale coffee? Stale Java, says the US Federal Trade Commission.
There’s another web out there, a better web hiding just below the surface of the one we surf from our phones and tablets and laptops every day. A web with no ads, no endlessly scrolling pages, and no annoying modal windows begging you to share the site on social media or sign up for a newsletter. The best part is that you don’t need a special browser extension or an invite-only app to access this alternate reality. All you need to do is change one little setting in your browser of choice. Just un-tick the checkbox that enables “JavaScript” and away you go, to a simpler, cleaner web.
