Maximum PC: The Windows 8 App Store has only been officially open for about two months now, but the number of apps available is just a few dozen away from passing over the 36,000 mark. That’s an impressive accomplishment to be sure; however it’s still difficult to single out any example of a “killer app” for the platform.
And, for once, some of what it can do looks genuinely useful.
The blog post reads, “We’re introducing a new WhatsApp app for Windows that loads faster and is built with an interface similar to the app's mobile version.”
Since the middle of February, customers of AMD graphics cards have been reporting situations in which Windows installations were entirely bricked after installing new drivers.
It's going to need to keep the momentum to take on Android and iOS in the tablet space.
