The Switch: From Android To IOS

Noble Press: I came into possession of an iPhone 4S and wow, a lot has changed. I have always had android phones, which was surprising since I own lots of Apple products. Being a T-Mobile subscriber kept me on the Android boat, but since I picked up a Gevey SIM unlocker for my iPhone, I was able to transition into a 4S. Now that I have had this 4S for about 3 weeks I think that I have a good feeling of which I prefer. I understand that Android is more free and allows more options, but everything is just so fluid on my iPhone. Navigating, this drastically different terrain, quickly became second nature. It was nothing like the learning curve that you find on Android.

Somehow Apple managed to make themselves look even less appealing to me. Due to a rounded square that's apparently worth 1 billion and change.

Moentjers4253d ago

You really aren't aware that it had less to do with the rounded square than with the other patents, do you ?

kingPoS4253d ago (Edited 4253d ago )

Yes I know that six patents were infringed. What was focused on was mostly the squares.
apple was going for a two pronged attack, Samsung & Android. The Android ecosystem will suffer because of this.
Prices will rise licensing fee will increase. This scenario won't won't do well to promote competition. apple might even go as far as to have all US Samsung devices banned. If that happens then apple has officially evil. We'll all loose out if apple wins.

KingPin4253d ago

well the EU hasnt found anything wrong with samsung devices so basically only NA consumers will suffer. Apple tried to have Samsungs devices banned in Australia and Europe and, long story short, they got the middle finger.

but we shall see, Apple should be taking a knife to the balls for the notification bar and the free turn-by-turn voice navigation. be it by google/android or by nokia. so yeah, karma is a bitch. this will catch up to Apple in the long run.

evil_element4253d ago

You know karma is good. Apple beat the haters after the company was slated in

1984 (Apple Machine)
1997 (Apple moved focus to pro and general consumers) - (think different campaign)
2000 (creation of ipod,itunes)
2001 (1st Apple store)
2007 (the 1st fully working smartphone)
2012 (Winning the battle of other companies stealing ideas).

Must have been doing something right?

If you hate Apple so much we always go back to beige computers, back to command line PC, using only a keyboard and complex software.

Sound inciting?

KingPin4253d ago

@evil element

you go on like if it wasn't for Apple, PCs wont be popular today. guess Apple should start making cars for the mass market too.

creation of ipod. someone hasnt heard of sony walkman.

nokia symbian was great until then, and even if there was no iOS, android was already releasing the same year.

other companies didn't steal ideas. otherwise the EU and Australia wouldn't be so fair. but Apple won in NA where they were favored due to being an American company. what i wanna see is Apple take this judgment to Asia and tell em to ban samsung products. but they wouldn't coz even Apple knows its bullshit. patenting rectangles.....guess if you dont buy an iphone 5, we better start getting used to triangles and circular phones.

and i guess in another 5 years you'll tell me google copied Apple with "project glass". just coz it had an apple logo and people jumped on the hype wagon.

as for your comment with pc with command line....i really dont mind it. linux rocks :)

evil_element4253d ago

lol, correction @kingpin.

"you go on like if it wasn't for Apple, PCs wont be popular today. guess Apple should start making cars for the mass market too."

Response: It was down to Apple that PC became what is now. 70's the concept of the personnel computer didn't exist. Neither did icons, windows, cursors e.t.c till 80's. Xerox ditch the Graphical user interface as useless gimmick. Windows 1.0 was based off of the Mac GUI, no Mac = no windows = no GUI linux = No visual PC's no smart phones = decades behind technology.

creation of ipod. someone hasnt heard of sony walkman.

Response: True mp3 players, cd players and magnetic media existed. But it was fragmented user experience and unless you had Phd in computer science you were a fool to try and use the software it came with. Bloated, complex and limited support software.

"nokia symbian was great until then, and even if there was no iOS, android was already releasing the same year."

Response: Nokia symbian was still primitive with WEP internet and again fragmented. You will find that iOS was actually in development since 2001 and Android hit the shelves year and a bit later after iOS was released.

"other companies didn't steal ideas. otherwise the EU and Australia wouldn't be so fair. but Apple won in NA where they were favored due to being an American company. what i wanna see is Apple take this judgment to Asia and tell em to ban samsung products. but they wouldn't coz even Apple knows its bullshit. patenting rectangles.....guess if you dont buy an iphone 5, we better start getting used to triangles and circular phones."

Response: Companies since the dawn of business have stolen each other ideas, its just how much u let other folk get away with. If you read anything about patents you would know, every patent is filed separately per country with different descriptions and drawings. One country may say YES and another NO. There isn't one standalone patent system. You paid attention the lawsuit you would have read that the case covered many infringements. The use of square icons was just one of the patents which was being pursued.

and i guess in another 5 years you'll tell me google copied Apple with "project glass". just coz it had an apple logo and people jumped on the hype wagon.

Response: Google just a copy of Microsoft only with a core as rotten as Intellectual Ventures. Using your personnel details as a money making tool.

"as for your comment with pc with command line....i really dont mind it. linux rocks :)"

Response: Not everyone lives for taking 3 hours to getting a simple email. May be your choice but it doesnt reflect 7 billion plus people on earth.

Might want to read up about the history about Apple and the common day computer. Before letting your tongue rip.

t3rrorc3ll4249d ago

Evil element that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard 7 billion people. You do realise that in the scheme of things a small percentage of people on earth can afford these products. And iOS is just plain boring as shit and apple products are shit for playing real games on

"I like how iOS is more compatible with all of my Apple software and hardware."

well ofcoz you would. Apple likes to lock you in so that its a mission to do anything with an apple product thats not related to other Apple hardware. its all part of their plan. why buy a MAC if it was just as simple to do the task on a pc.

but what i like about android is freedom. it works well with every single device. be it a linux PC, windows PC, hell it even works great on my PS3.

ngecenk4253d ago

yes but its not something that I really want. as a techie, i have zero problem with that. but how about my parents and my sister? all they want is something that can easily integrated and simple. they dont really care whats the brand as long as it works.

iOS offers them that. while Android... well basically no! I use vaio, xperia, and playstation, and none of them integrated to each other as close as apple devices. for me, its fine, for my parents, its frustrating

Moentjers4252d ago

I've been a long time around in ICT environments and try to keep aware of all the latest tech that exists. So I know that Android is a great mobile OS and a lot of things are possible on it. I'm also aware of the fact that lots of versions exist and lot of different venders have their devices with some functionalities that go together with some versions.

But my phone is my business-tool, all I want (need, desire) is that it simply works every time I want to use something on it and that my hardware/software vendor makes sure it stays stable !

You can tweak all you want with your phone, mine is as closed and safe (if ever possible) as they can get it to save me from problems.
