Electronista - D-Link has began shipping its first router equipped with 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology, or what the maker calls 5G. The Cloud Router 5700 (DIR-865L) is said to be capable of reaching speeds of up to 1,750Mbps speeds when operating in this dual mode, which is made up of 1,300Mbps wireless-AC and 450Mbps wireless-N speeds. It also ships with the Cloud App, which lets owners monitor and control the home network remotely.
The D-Link DIR-X5460 AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router is now available on Amazon.
D-Link failed to maintain confidentiality of private key used to sign its software.
D-Link made a splash at last year's Consumer Electronics Show with what can only be described as "the most insane wireless router in the history of mankind." The massive blood-red device, which resembled some type of mechanical arachnid flipped on its back, marked the apex of absurd networking technology design.
