TheVerge - LG's been all over the map with its phones recently. The Nitro HD is great hardware, but runs outdated (and frankly terrible) software. The Optimus L7 fixed the software problem, but is severely underpowered. The Spectrum is powerful, but poorly made. It seems like every time LG ties up one loose end, another one pops open. Well, they're all tied up now. The Optimus 4X HD has great software, and it's blistering fast. It's a well-made phone that's comfortable to use, and despite its skin's remaining aesthetic offenses it does add some useful new things to Android. The Optimus 4X HD feels like a flagship phone in a way none of LG's recent efforts have. If this device makes it to the US mostly unchanged (except to add LTE), LG might finally earn a spot near the top of the Android heap.
Pocket-Lint: LG hasn't had the greatest successes when put alongside the likes of Samsung and HTC. With the LG Optimus 4X, the Korean company is, once again, packing the latest tech into a handset for another push in the Android market.
It's a strategy we saw with the LG Optimus 2X in 2011, which like many other devices stood in the shadow of the Samsung Galaxy S II. With the Optimus 4X, can LG put themselves alongside the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X?
AC - With the Android 4.1 source code having recently dropped on AOSP, custom ROM makers are quickly making progress in getting the new version ported to a variety of devices. One of those is the much-anticipated CyanogenMod 10, and this morning one of CM's leading devs has posted a short teaser video showing the Jelly Bean-powered CM10 in action.
Engadget - LG's Optimus 4X HD may not have toppled Samsung's Galaxy S III and HTC's One X from the quad-core throne, but it's definitely made it to the royal court.
