I loved it. The people who didn't like it probably didn't like the way lost ended. It asks big questions and leaves you to decide how to answer them. I thought it was brilliant and beautiful.

what disappointed me was they promised it would be something else, it ended up very similar to previous alien films and reverted to a B-movie..

-It's called juxtaposition and if you don't generalize what you put the movie has completely different reasonings, outcomes and SPOILER AGAIN David is still 'alive' too so it's not just one crew member. Also bringing up the main character having something in her "belly" at one point is just stretching for similarities imo. Like I pointed out above.

I went in with the mindset that I was just going to watch a sci-fi movie and not an Alien prequel and I loved it. Even comparing it to Alien I loved it. Also I'm pretty sure b movies don't go so philosophical.

Oh and any movie I'm interested in after seeing a few details I avoid the rest of the news or previews for it so I don't get overly hyped just to be disappointed...

technically David was never alive

i was very intrigued until the little white snake scene then rolled my eyes "here we go again".

i think they should have focused fully on the engineers

Yep my post doesn't have quotations around alive obviously. But if that's seriously the reason you say only one crew member lived(and comparing it to Alien for this) then all I can say is wow. Also I was more surprised that anyone lived at all and expected everyone to die.

Saw the 3D version and thought it was a very good film, it's that sort of cinema that you would either like or hate enough.. some even say it's too clinical which has it's valid points. Think the idea leading up to the beginning of Aliens was well written. This is a film that will have a few conspiratorial questions about it. A bit like the when people questioned Deckard's character on BladeRunner but on a different level altogether - another Ridley Scott film.

I loved this one. It's pretty good. I went to see it with the mindset of NOT expecting it as a standard some scientists trapped in a ship with some monsters hunting them type of movie. I wasn't disappointed. Except...

Ridley Scott said he wants to explore the giant "Jockey" alien that made everyone puzzled for decades. In the first Alien movie he was discovered sitting on the seat and in Prometheus he seems to be doing just that during the crash...then he went after the scientist on another ship only to be raped by Facehugger 1.0, thus giving birth Xenomorph 1.0.

So was that the same Jockey that the crew of the Nostromo from Alien discovered or was it another alien ship? Did the Xenomorph 1.0 put his body back on the seat?

No, the derelict space craft the Nostromo found was on a different planet. This movie takes place on LV223 and Alien was on LV426. Different jockey.

So two "Engineer" biological-weapons delivery vessels destined to destroy life on Earth crashed on two different planets and both pilots were infected.

Plot hole, coincidence or does this film imply there is actually a God (that protects the humans)? Just like Weyland in Prometheus realizing that humans are nothing in the eyes of these Engineers, I guess the Engineers are pissed off of the notion that God preferring humans over them. I mean, they seem to be unwilling to accept the existence of Earth life forms hence the biological weapon research base but having two vessels carrying the same cargo and presumably the same destination, crash one after another is begging for a divine explanation. If that's the case then the Engineers are like Lucifer who disagree with God's creation...

Yeah, it's Sunday and I'm being churchy today. Sorry. Might as well wait for the sequel to see what explanation the director can come up with.

In response to your second comment. It isn't that there are two headed for Earth. There are thousands all over the galaxy headed for other planets. The first scene is key in understanding. The "Engineer" drinks the goo and creates life on what appears to be Earth. Now thousands of years later, they are sending the goo to us to break humans down and create a new species. My guess is there are thousands of other planets in which they are doing the same thing. David's quote of "Sometimes you have to destroy life to create it" kind of explains it all. (I just saw it a second time today so I put more of the pieces together.

Ah...that clears up some of things that have been nagging the back of my mind. Thanks. I could put that to rest now.

Still, I find it funny that the awakened Engineer immediately proceeded with the original plan to send the biological cargo to Earth even though he's been in stasis for thousands of years (unless I missed out on the details again and he's actually on stasis for just several years before the contamination struck-I'm unable to watch it twice). I mean, the first thing anyone would do after thousands of years in stasis is to check on the authorities for some situation report or mission updates. Ask relevant parties what the he should do next. Vickers woke from stasis and the first thing she asked was ...for a robe and then inquire about the condition of the ship and crew. But, no. The Engineer woke up, killed some lowly humans and set the ship towards Earth.

Anyway, it's an interesting movie and quite a brain teaser.
