Sony should actuAlly attempt to get it's flagship phones onto American carriers timely matter. And not just tmobile. They could even leverAge the playstation brand to pull in some consumers. Then maybe go for a hipster approach to possibly pull some customers from Apple Samsung. Sony and bits.decisions sometimes just baffle the mind.

Because they release two flagships a year when only one is needed....

Make it cheaper!

Maybe if Sony made these phones available with other carriers. More people would be able 2 buy the phones. Sony has nothing but themselves 2 blame

IMO it mainly comes down to marketing and availability.

The Xperia phones really needs a new ui. The menu on those phones look like 2005 phones. you could always use another launcher, but not everyone knows that.
Also they need better marketing

All they need to make the xperia phones successful is to get them on at&t and verizon, not just tmobile. Top end phones like xperia, galaxy and iphone are expensive to just buy out right. If they had the phones on plan carriers who would eat part if not most of the price of the phones and do advertising for them like samsumg and apple does then they would get a lot more phones in the hands of consumers. Couple of my friends upgraded to iphone 5s and anotherto the galaxy 4 last year just because best buy had a deal where you renew your verizon contract you could get the phones for $0.01. If a carrier told me I could get a z3 for even $100 I'd be all over it.

Good phones are good phones, good products, doesn't have to be number one sell... including Black Berry, Nokia. etc.. going out of business because of not number seller?!

It doesn't look good for Sony to be honest, PlayStation division is pretty much there only profitable division they have left. In 2000, Sony were worth 150 billion+, today they are around 20 billion.

I think the fact that you can only get most of these phones at tmobile is whats hurting Sony. No one is gonna switch carriers specifically for any phone

I've never understood why Sony always kept their phones exclusive to just TMobile and ATT. I think they could've had a hit If they would've managed to spread the phones to every possible ( GSM or CDMA) carrier like Samsung.

Sony's problems
1. Devices available a minimum of 3 months after announcements. - No focus on making products available quickly.
2. By the time they are actually available, they have relatively old specs.
3. No aggressive pricing strategy. i mean 499 off contract for a flagship should be standard at best, sony is like 750 off contract with those out dated specs is an absolute - NO buy So a flawed pricing strategy.
4. Lack of proper support. - updates generally slow the phone down dramatically.

In Europe:
1. Sony devices available about 2 weeks after release.
2 Specs are often better than competitors: z2 has snapdragon 801, 3200mah battery, 3GB ram, 21 mp camera... what do you want? And sony upgrades its flagship after 6 months to make sure it's on the top.
