What should we expect from the PS5 and the next generation?

Consoles barely get 1080p at 60fps. Pc games at 4k and decent fps cost at least $1000 for the gpu. No way next gen will have 4k consoles cause even if price goes down by the time ps5 comes out it will probably be around $500 for the gpu and thats gonna raise the price too much for enough ppl to buy for a profit. You can put a 2tb in ps4 now its just not sold already in system cause it would raise the price. Depending on how long this generation last I doubt ps5 will be cloud based because there are a lot more issues with psn going down than before and Sony servers are slow for Ps4. If they had to upgrade the speed and reliability it would cost more money than I think they are willing to spend. Someone from Naughty Dog saud he doesn't expect 4k on consoles until ps6 genereation.

We also have to take into account that whenever something is mass produced, the cost to manufacture goes down. I think it might happen next gen.

Don't get too excited by a PC beating console unfortunately they are restricted by environmental laws that affect all consumer electricals.

A new gen is also at least 3 years away. Good chance by then components will be considerably cheaper.

If a new PS or XB comes out in 3 years, there would be a major backlash. The systems were designed to have a lifespan of 7-10 years. A 5 year console wouldn't even be enough time for most AAA developers to really flex their muscles.

The ram is fine? 8gb is gonna be todays 512mb when ps5 releases...the ps5 is going to need at least 128gb of ram if it wants to keep the same 16x ram increase as it has done from every successor!

2tb is too little

It's both of their faults. One wants all of the games to look best on their platform while the other wants their games to look better than other games. Of course the publishers themselves don't care and just want to minimize the cost of making the games even if it means cutting corners and releasing a buggy 30fps game.

it shouldnt kill off the PS4 i believe that the PS5 will get a hardware and a digital release through PS now .
isnt it early to talk about a PS5 i have a PS4 now and there is absolutely no interesting games out on it right now .
there are some interesting games coming but certainly current line up is extremely poor let it deliver then ( the digital ) PS5 can have its time if it exists

It'll be 3 ways, physical disc, stream, and download. Vita has both combine you can download and take it out via memory card.

what i meant is buying the console isnt a requirement .
you can buy it and enjoy the games some one else can play it through PSnow on PS4 or other devices .
this Sony will make the video game market even more relevant i know the PS4 is selling great ( for a game console ) but not as great as mainstream technology devices if they want to it the same level of mass market then PSnow offers an incredible value and an incredible future plan .

Screw streaming. At least in the US. Until everyone has Google Fiber streaming can suck it. Disc capacity is always increasing so there's no need for streaming only.

I wouldn't want to stream games even if I had Google Fiber. If they really run into disc space issues with 50GB blu-ray discs they could always use multiple discs or just use 100gb discs. But since every game seems to install on these new consoles I think hard drive space will become a issue unless the prices drop a lot and they are able to give us 2TB or more hard drives.

If 30 milion ps4 units in under 2 years sounds to you like "consoles dying" you dont have any clue about marketing and how consoles have control on the market(not just gaming) and over developers.
consoles are here to stay,and yes we are going to see ps5.period

actually, many analyst and report are showing that this may be the last console gen. software has advanced a lot and have shown capabilities.

look as ps now.

Don't count out any surprises. This gen hasn't changed a lot from last gen aside form graphics. The only thing different is the software, features, services.

Sales, oh my god look at the picture. First turn on your tv, what your tv can do oh yeah stream Netflix, Crunchyroll, Youtube, Facebook, etc apps. Ok,is it possible to hook a PC to your tv yes, is it possible to use a gamepad on PC ,yes, are shmups on PC yes, Crimson Clover Ignition, Jamestown. Mobile devices can run game emulators, overclock your PC, and be able to play PS4 games via remote play. With those facts not hollowed sales or the delusion of Consoles on par to PC lol. The consoles are done and buried.

Pc as always been on par with the consoles but consoles featurs and gaming(share play,Exclusives) dont appears in the pc no matter how powerful it is.
emulators are here since the ps1 era,do u see any drops of sales becouse "emulators"?

Anyway it's hard enough to hack games to emulators and try to run it on pc,not evry one can do it,pepole just buy the damn console and that it, andlots of gamers against piracy

pepole want the consoles themselevs and play it with gamepad with there friends around the world.
facebook,twitter and net flex can be running on 5 years hardware,but pepole will still going to buy games to there consoles,becouse that what they like
mark may words,ps5 will come out.

A long wait we're not even 2 years into this generation and the last generation is still going 9/10 years down the line, can't think we will see another generation for at least 5 years. Nintendo will have a new console up to current specs hopefully but I'm in no rush for that, sure within 2 years 3 max it'll be out. Microsoft might want to go early again but I can't see Sony starting another console any time soon, sure they'll be thinking about it but pipe dreams. No way will another happen from Sony for at least another 5-7 years. Yet we're putting our requests in now, it's gonna be a bit outdated by then I'll just get on with this backlog of mine.

i know a lot of people want backwards compatibility, but i have it on my PS3 and to be honest i only used it couple of times. it does sound convenient and all but trust me, its not all its cracked up to be.

to be honest if a console removes the feature to make it cheaper, i wouldnt mind at all. but thats just my thoughts. i know everyone has their own needs, but keep in mind those were the same people complaining about the PS3 high price when it was originally released when it had all the features.

a lil offtopic but wouldnt it be awesome to have graphics settings for the people that prefer 60 fps for example with ps4 most games are rendered in 1080/30 but what if u u dont have a 1080p tv? and instead running 720p there should be the capability to run the the game with higher framerate/ other features pushed higher since technically the hardware isnt pushing as hard because of the lower resolution it shouldnt be hard to implementthis since it can be done with pc altho there would probably be longer dev times.

Please do keep the disc format. Hate streaming/downloads as it adds broadband costs'.

4K is still the norm of PC, nonetheless it would be good to be future-proofed so if the tech gets more affordable for game developers' it is there just in case.

2TB HDD should be the norm.

More connections for various cable ( USB, HDMI, portable amp/headphone jacks built-in the console - for the aftermarket, etc. ) would be welcome.

Consoles are dead and buried. PS Now combined with digital distribution via an external hard drive hooked to the tele or mobile devices hooked to the tv is where console gaming future lies. The black box under the tv is dead.

Hope you're wrong there.. because I can see they are going to ram a ton of hateful, hateful adverts and things and such we really don't need with digital.

Basically the consumer is handing over their ( total? ) **control to these companies. They are going to even trick us at some point into buying more useless stuff.

Hope I'm wrong here.. but capitalism.. I don't mind it honestly but I still want control, I want hard facts, I want to hold onto things.. discs, a console..

I'd say capable of 4k 30 fps possibly 60????. Considering AMD pushing there Graphics card the r9 390 with hbm memory etc, 4 years from now when r&d is starting for next gen who knows what nvidia and amd will have in development and available for sony and microsoft.
