Crazy to think that they're losing money

UltraNova3330d ago

For Google, YouTube is more about power and name recognition than a money making machine. After-all YT is free to use, its the most visited video platform by far and the most famous both synonymous with online dominance/power.

With all the privacy scares I'm not surprised a considerable populace had ditched Google and went basic. I don't think they're in a desperate situation though.

KnowTechie3331d ago

Yea, I don't think they're in situation where money is a concern. You would just think they would at least be turning some sort of profit.

Youtube is failing miserably? What are you talking about?

KnowTechie3331d ago

it's very simple. If you're a huge entity like YouTube and not turning a profit, that sounds to me like some sort of business failure. I dunno, that's just me.

the million or so twerking videos say it wont ever fail. lol

You know you are wrong right, my previous post:

YouTube isn't failing. They are just not in profits nor losing money. Reason to this is because Google has been aggressively pouring money on contents, and have been weak in ads. Although I feel they show too much ads. But after the confirmation of new direction, there has been way too much ads but at least not much than cable television. So it's never been a failure, just never made money regardless they have 1.2 billion user per month!

Between all of the ad blocking (because of obnoxious ads), the interface being pointlessly overhauled every 6 months (discouraging regular users), the payment system that encourages quantity over quality (thus filling Youtube with quantity instead of quality)....I can't say that I'm surprised.

Allllllllll they have to do is listen to their users and content creators.

I understand YouTube hasn't made a profit and if you view it in that light its not a success for Google. But what site has stepped up to dethrone YT? None at this point, even giving content creators more revenue (Blip), less restriction on content (Dailymotion), YT soldiers on.

ZoyosJD3330d ago

I agree for the time being, but I have seen enough sites rise and fall that I won't assume things will stay that way. Youtube could be pulling up second in three months (as much as I doubt it). All it takes is a few people with the time, resources, and the right message.
