Meet AdDetector — The New Plug-In That Labels Native Advertising

Wall Street Journal - A week-old browser plug-in may have helped solve native advertising’s labeling problem.

The service, AdDetector, places a huge red banner above articles on news sites that are paid for by an advertiser, often known as “sponsored content” or “native advertising.” Publishers like BuzzFeed, The Atlantic, the New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal post sponsored articles, but the nascent ad format lacks a consistent rubric across news sites.
