I dropped my S6 a few times with no screen protector and still not a single crack or scratch. Those screens are really good.

I had the s7 for 2 days only putting it in my pocket and immediately got micro scratches you could see against the light. Keep in mind my pocket was clean. The screen display glass is strong, but can't prevent micro scratches

who pays $50 for a screen protector.
those things are like 10 bucks at best. heck for $20 im sure you could find a full body case with built in screen protector.

either way, paying 10-20 bucks to look after a device that's hundreds of dollars isn't a bad thing.
