True but if we are honest around 80% of students own a Windows pc or laptop. Look at the mac sales they have not grown in years its a product that sells well in terms of what apple needs it to sell but Windows is what most people use and need.
I'm with you on this. Microsoft have started looking at Windows on arm but also worked out a way to get x32 apps working on it.
I do see why they are moving down this road as continntunum, Dex and others are the start of mobile phones becoming pc replacements for admin work. Being able to run things like ms office, AutoCad LT and other apps is a big step forward over getting a pc to do this.

Tbh it's the same with most upgrades. I opted for the note 8 over the 9 due to price and I can say I'm happy with that and been very supprised at how good the phone is as never been a Samsung fan. Now that i have one ui to makes the phone even better to use.
I'm with you on that the only thing the mid range phones don't have at this moment in time is something like Samsung Dex or wp continuum. For me I use them quite a bit but if the mid range phones get this type of os then I'll defo look at a mid range device next time.
Not a shock really been expecting this for the last few years and I see next gen being all about one os and having links closer than ever for xbox and pc.
For me this is one thing Sony need to do with the ps5 just because Microsoft have. I do wonder if ps5 games will work on the ps4 and the other way round to as this is the road microsoft have said they are going so I see Sony matching this. Intresting times for the console market.

Yet the media and apple will make out its the best news ever and the way everyone will move. For me the best music service was zune/groove as you could add as many albums to your collection as you wanted and also download all your music collection and store it on your sd card but as with me St services that are better then the others it did not take off and got dropped.
What I do find funny is that this generation is all about technology but they actually don't know anything about technology. We have had quite a few work experience and graduates come to my company and the lack of knowledge is shocking. Yeah they can use an iPhone but ask them a low end technical question they don't have a clue. I'm glad I was part of the gen coming into the Internet rather than the one now where its all about it.
This has just made me buy two more for home and ill be getting a 4th once my little one is older. Not been a massive good fan but since getting a home I've started to live away from others and become all google.

@PATR1CKSOMMER I'm with you on this there was a lot Microsoft did right with Windows Phone/Mobile but also daft calls they made with it.
For me the live tiles were far better than widgets and icons, Cortana reading text messages out with voice command was way ahead of both Apple and Androids offering.
For me the clean look of WP/WM was a lot nicer than IOS and Android. They Keyboard was the best of any I have used.

I do think this time round Apple have lost their buzz. The iPhone 8 had no queues in the UK and I don't know one person looking at getting the X
Still don't think there has been any better cameras than the lumia 1020 or lumia 950xl best cameras I've had on a phone. That said my Sony xperia xz premium camera is proving to be a good one to.
The issue is more than apple and fan boys though. Samsung and Apple have the cool kids so to speak using their devices and they won't look else where. For me devices like the Sony xperia xz premium, HTC u11, LG g6 & V30 as well as others offer more than both Samsung and Apple but they have the none tech group buying their phones and because of this are the ones that sell the most yoy and I don't see it changing any time soon.
I'm not sure how it works on ios but I know it was very hard to do with the eye scanning on my lumia 950xl I use contacts and when I tried to unlock my phone without them in or in glasses it did not work ide expect this to be the same but fingerprint for me is the best way to unlock a phone and I don't know why it dose not have it.
Tbh it's only one month and sales will slow down because of the next iPhone is due out soon. I expect Apple will be back above them soon even though I have or never will buy one of their products.
Kingpin the thing is most people who use an iPhone are not into tech and believe it or not most people who own a phone and tablet are not good with technology full stop. I work in the it industry and I hate any apple device but it really is the most simple os to use out of any on the market and because of this this is why Apple products sell so well.

I agree but I also think smart phones are the future of laptops. If you look at continuum for me it's a bit ahead of its time but I see alot of people using a dock for phones / tablets in the next 10 to 15 years if windows 10 carrys on to evolve like it is. Im not saying wp will be the next big thing in home use but in business it really could be.
Wow looks like the os is catching up to windows mobile now as it has dark from the start. Joking aside good to see eveyone doing this for me black looks far better than white on phones.
