CCC isn't particularly reliable for picking up updates as soon as they're out. I always download manually. I've installed 11.8 for my 5770 and everything is working fine.

Not sure where you've got the crossfire info from but if you check out the release notes there are just a few bug fixes which apply to crossfire setups. The majority of it relates to both single or dual cards. All of the major performance improvements apply to your single 6970 card, so you...

To be honest the room my PC is in is usually really toasty. Maybe it's because I haven't cluttered the inside and the H50 CPU cooler may help as it takes all that heat out of the case.

I also prefer a sleeker look. Main reason for 800D was space, cable management and hot swap drive bays. My old tower was jammed full with wires!

Airflow on the 800D is great if you have the right fans in the right places. It's very roomy inside and the air circulates well. Plus the PSU is mounted below the main case so you don't get the warm air from that being pumped into the main case.

That's exactly why I went for the H50 too - didn't want to risk any accidents with water cooling!

The PS3 is only half way through its life-cycle so we won't be hearing anything about a PS4 for a long time. What could they even do to improve on it? Current games don't fully utilise the PS3's power and there's no successor to Blu-ray available. We'll probably just see slightly tweaked iterations of the slim being rolled out over the years.

That is one beast of a graphics card! Just how many PCI slots do manufacturers think we have free these days? One for the hardest of the hardcore I think.

To be honest I think these look rather ugly, especially will the grill/mesh panels down the front. I use the Obsidian 800D which is much better imo - sleek and functional. I'm very surprised these new models don't have the hot-swappable front-access hard drive bays - they come in really handy on the Obsidian.

They look like a step up from the current model with the monitoring capabilities. I'm using the H50 and have found it to work really well. Obviously not as effective as a full water cooling system, but an easy to install improvement over air cooling.

Yup, I've always used the relatively cheap (but gold-plated) ones from eBay or Amazon and have never had any problems.

This one is obviously more than a run of the mill cable, but I think a $10 to $15 dollar price point would be about right. At any rate there'll probably be generic clones available as soon as it releases.

This sounds similar to the file-sharing racket which was effectively shut down in the UK earlier this year. Buy the rights to some intellectual property and then go around making threats to those alleged to have infringed. Probably little more than a ploy to squeeze cash out of developers who pay up because they're scared of legal action. I'm sure it's no coincidence that the larger developers aren't being targeted.

It'll be interesting to see how it works in practice. If it can bring higher picture quality to Wii it will be a very handy thing to pick up. I just hope it isn't over-priced. If it's the same price as a standard HDMI cable it should be a big seller.

Very disappointing that a reputable company like Skype is covertly installing unwanted software. Hopefully they'll either remove it or at least give users an option not to install it in the first place.

What is the world coming to when people are using daft apps like this to name their kids? I mean, sure, technology has its place in the world, but stuff like this is barmy. Yet I'm sure it will sell thousands of copies!

I'm a PS3 gamer and love the console but I've been really disappointed by Sony's response. No decent updates or sticking to timeframes. I do most of my gaming online with the same bunch of guys and some of those have lost patience and switched. So now I've ended up ordering a 360 too. I'll still keep my PS3 and decide title by title which console to get it on depending on exclusive content or timed DLC. Not too worried about paying for Live - I just won't renew my PSN...

Lol, my comment is based on conversations I've had with a friend who is a game developer. So yes I do know what I'm talking about!

We won't see a change immediately given the development cycle of games, but it will be interesting to see if more new titles announced later this year go XBox exclusive. Sony is going to have to come up with some pretty heavy incentives to keep developers on board.

Games released during the downtime are experiencin...

Yeah, it's one thing to attack companies to make a stand, but when you screw over millions of people in the process it is unacceptable. Especially when exposing personal details of people who've done nothing wrong.

Windows Live Mail isn't commercial software. In fact it is a free (and rather functional) alternative to Outlook.
