February Contest Details

Here are the Details for this month's contest. We are giving away plenty of Google Chromecast this month so get in, get active and get some Internets on your TV.

This month we have 10, yes TEN Chromecast's up for grabs. And we are looking to spread these prizes to all sections of the site to reward all different types of users here at TechSpy.

TOP SCORE CONTEST --MINUS THE NEWS SCORE-- (3 WINNERS):
Things like Managing, Comments, Blog and General score are what counts for this contest. We will take the highest score Minus all news and bonus score to determine the winners of the 3 Chromecast.

Single post wonders, spammers, rude or offensive remarks all result in a DQ. Also approving every story without regard to the submission guidelines can also result in a DQ from the contest. So rack up score but do it in a way that helps the community.

STORY COMMENT SECTION PRIZES (2 WINNERS):
This will be based purely on score with the exception being that if your comment quality is for the "Most part" low. We will just head down the list and give it to the guy in second or third place if we feel most of the comments are of the "Wow" "LOL" or "I want this" variety.

Single post wonders, spammers, rude or offensive remarks all result in a DQ. So if you go into every story and put, "____ is awsum!!!1 don't expect to be winning anything.

TECHHEAD CONTEST (1 WINNER):
This contest is a TechSpy MVP type contest, that will be chosen by the staff. This contest will NOT be based on score alone, the staff will look at the members participation on the site as a whole...So while score may help you get noticed and in the running, being diverse and helping in all aspects of the site will put you much closer to winning than score alone. So sit back and get your TechSpy on to win.

MANAGING CONTEST (1 WINNER):
This is focused on the Pending area. Really straight forward, Highest managing score for the entire month wins a Chromecast.

Here is some fine print! The TechSpy staff will be keeping an eye out for submissions that have been improperly approved or reported. This will be on a 3 strike rule for the entire month...Any combination of 3 improper Reports or Approvals will result in a DQ from the contest. Any "Strike" will also come with a PM from a Mod/Admin so you are aware of your strike standing. This is really more of a don't go through and APPROVE/REPORT everything for the sake of score. Honest mistakes will not be hammered down upon. So take care while reporting/approving stories and finish with the top managing score to win.

BLOG CONTEST (1 WINNER):
Best blog post as voted on by the "Staff" wins a Chromecast. So get to submitting your own user blog to the community on any subject you are passionate about in the Tech sector.

CONTRIBUTOR CONTEST (2 WINNERS):
Submit news and get a top 2 News ranking in February and you can win one of two Chromecasts.

--**Special disclaimer for this month's contest, Prizes will be limited to 1 win total per user this month. So if you win in one category the prize will drop to the runner up in the next category**--

I wish Filmwatch had contests as fair as this! Too bad you're not in charge over there, Syko. I mean there's no way anybody is beating Crazay or RetrospectRealm. They're submitting machines. At least regular people have a chance over here.

Speed-Racer3725d ago

When I joined N4G some years ago, that is how it felt trying to beat Bloodbath.

proudly_X3722d ago

Tried beating -Mezzo- in N4G, lol.. but it was a no brainier..

Crazay3725d ago

HEY!

COntributor contests are perfectly fair. You do the time you deserve to be rewarded. =)

Practically a full time goddamn job some days.

ajax173725d ago (Edited 3725d ago )

Yeah, why don't you take a month vacation, lol. What I'm getting at is there should be a 3rd place for the contributer contest($25?). As well as managing, blog, etc. There's no hope for anybody else with you and Retro, lol.

Crazay3725d ago

HAHAH! I took a 2 week vacay in december and 10 days in January. There's hope dude. I just happen to have a very sweet job that affords me the ability to post through the day.

ajax173725d ago

Yeah, 10 days in January and you still killed Retro! Your name suites you well, lol.

RetrospectRealm3700d ago

haha You have no idea how TIME CONSUMING it is for Crazay and I to get the kind of scores we do. I agree though, more prizes should be given out for contributors.

Maybe if we get the site bigger and get more people contributing like N4G, then we'll get more monthly prizes. I think N4G gives out like, 8 prizes for the first 8 contributors.
