CES Day 2: Bieber Fever and Earthy Cans

Syko|4485d ago |Blog Post|3|

CES this year is crazy, it's busy as hell already and then Justin Bieber designs a robot with the Vietnamese manufacturer of robots TOSY. Well you can imagine what happens next...

Cue grown men climbing pillars and girls pushing forward like lambs to the slaughter. If you wish to see pictures of the Beebs, please go elsewhere as I could not swallow enough pride to stampede and climb pillars to get pictures of a small dancing robot...that designed a smaller dancing robot. I did get to see that beautiful hair first hand though so I will sleep well tonight.

With the sheer amount of floor space to cover at times it seems that covering more than the major players is a task nearly impossible to achieve. With the crowds still in the epic tier today we made a conscious effort to travel to the less traveled booths and perhaps come across some products we haven't heard about and that don't fall into the 4K, Ultrabook, OLED, MEGA ULTRA category. What we found were some people and products worth our efforts.

The House of Marley

Oh the House of Marley. What a truly remarkable booth that it was. If you don't know too much about them, don't worry. To be honest I didn't either, but boy am I glad that I found them today. The House of Marley was created with the belief in Bob Marley's vision of all of their products being earth friendly and innovative that follow their values: equality, unity, authenticity, sustainability, and charity. 5% of their annual profits are donated to 1Love.org which is a global movement dedicated to spreading his positive message to a new generation of "Young Gongs" who are ready to strike the hammer for charities, causes and ideas that can change the world.

As for the products. The first collection that we looked at while in the booth was "Jammin'", the Bag of Rhythm is a portable speaker system that pretty much is bringing it back to the old days of the "boombox" but you can throw it over your shoulder. This dock is compatible with all of the Ios devices. They will be shipping in February of this year.

In addition Marley offers in-ear headphones. 3 different styles all available in the summer. They range in price from $19.99-$49.99 and are all made with recycled plastic as well as no tangle wires.

The "Freedom" series offers a Marley Freedom Dock that is made of a solid piece of FSC-certified wood. It can be used with all of the I's just like the others and is equipped with 2 Aux-in connections for non Ios devices. It goes for $299.99.

The "Flight" which is an over-ear studio quality headphone that comes out this summer are the headphones all of the Marley family use in the studio while recording music. The noise cancelling effect on these headphones was phenomenal and the sound they delivered was on par with the best I have had the pleasure of putting on my head.

The best thing about the product was the people running the booth clearly had a passion about the product, Including Bob Marley's son Rohan. After speaking with the people of Marley you truly got a feeling of the passion that goes into and supports the product as well as the design. I personally came away with a great respect for their product and the people behind it. They were also gracious enough to supply us with In-Ear Headphones to give away in our CES Swag Bag (More details later).

While we did make our way to some of the bigger booths like Intel and Microsoft, we are waiting till the crowds reach "Crowded" level until covering them fully. So stay tuned tomorrow as we cover some more of the major players and the big products at CES.

Feel free to leave comments and what you would like to see either here or on Twitter @_TechSpy_.

Fully Updated Now, MGM WiFi is trash...Seems to be a recurring theme around Vegas this week. Need to carry a 4G Personal hotspot next year or just bring a Cat5 cord to patch directly into the wall jacks around here. =/

No Beiber? The fact you even would try to get that close is amazing! Marley booth looks fabulous! Nice to know Old is NOT necessarily brushed aside, instead made modern again. ;) Great prices, too! Like to see something from Toshiba?
