April Contest Details

Hey all,

I can't express how sorry I am for this really late post. I have been without an internet connection for the past week, so everything has fallen back. This month we are doing a simple contest as I can't really check story quality like I'd like to. The breakdown is as follows.

==Top News Contributor==

The top two contributors for April will walk away with up to $100. Please note that even though we have relaxed rules, we should still follow our newly updated guidelines accordingly.

1) $100
2) $75

==Top Manager==

The top manager for April will walk away with $50 in cash money. Managing includes both reporting and approving stories. Please remember to use our guidelines accordingly as bad managing can result in a DQ.

1) $50

==Comment Lottery==

Place in the top 8 of the comments score at the end of the month and 5 lucky winners will be selected to each win $25.

1) $25
2) $25
3) $25
4) $25
5) $25

I don't know if anyone else has these problems, but the site is pretty sluggish for me recently. Submitting is slower than before.

Also, I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, but "News Bonus" is not working properly. It shows 0 despite some stories going over 100.

News bonuses were never considered for contests on TechSpy (even on the old site). If anything, it's made it easier for me to calculate who has the highest news score now.

I used to minus the bonus scores back then.

As for the site speed, I'll bring it up. Spam has also been a major issue as well.

I know it's probably very in handy when you look at "Top Users" at the bottom of the site and it doesn't count for contests, but News Bonus doesn't even show when you click on user profiles. I was wondering if it's intentional or a bug.

Spam is a problem, yeah. I reckon Newsboiler sites don't have good enough of a spam protection? It must suck to manually black-list the domains.

Further to below, unfortunately spam has indeed seen a recent flourish across all the Newsboiler sites, made a little more obvious here as both Speed-Racer and I have not been able to get on the site regularly this month so far. Still, it's been a lot worse elsewhere.

Its a situation hopefully you won't see as much now I have proper time again and Speed-Racer's mentioned problems. Keep flagging stuff you see, I'll keep banning the accounts and we'll keep this as clean as possible. ;)

Alrighty then! Best of luck to all contributors, managers, and commenters! :D
