I would not pay 59.99 for this Game but then again, I am not a Zelda fanatic. U gotta remember that the only reason why a lot of these remakes on PS4 are not 60 dollars is because the developer doesn't think they will get many sales at that high of a price point. It's not for the gamers benefit. Just goes to show these companies are out to get as much as they think they possibly can from your wallet. Nintendo knows they have Zelda fanatics who will buy any Zelda game for 60. If you do not feel this game is worth 60, trust me, You are not who Nintendo is trying to sell this game to.

People really don’t seem to grasp the difference between a Remaster and a Remake.

Remaster is just using existing code and assets. Prettying up character models, upresing the whole game, maybe redoing some sound elements. This requires a lot less work and time. These shouldn’t be full price. It’s essentialy a port to a new more powerful hardware. Examples-last of us remastered, all the assassins creed remasters for current gen, shadow of the colossus.

Remakes are built from the ground up with all new code, assets, and modals. This is no less work than making a brand new game aside from having some story elements to follow and possibly some map details. These are not quick cash grabs. Cash grabs maybe. But they require all the work and attention that any new game needs. Examples-RE2(2019)

So yeah I think it’s justified to ask for full price for a game that needs just as much work as any new game. That’s like saying you don’t want to pay full price to watch the new IT movie because they are just following the story of the old version. It’s not a remaster of the old movie. It’s a remake that follows the old story for the most part. Required no less work to make just because it’s a remake.

It was literally revealed 2 days ago and doesn't even have a release date other than 2019. Why are we speculating about it being worth a price that probably isn't even confirmed by Nintendo themselves?

Based on what we did see, I don't really get why people would be treating this as a situation similar to all these Wii U -> Switch ports. Why are Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and Pokken Tournament all full-priced games? Aside from a few minor additions, there is absolutely nothing to justify those prices.

But when it comes to what we've seen of Link's Awakening, I feel Nintendo would be justified in charging a premium for it, as it is evident that it's being remade from the ground up with love and care. This isn't just a port from one generation ago with one new character. This is a remake.

There is the issue that Link's Awakening itself was not a very long game, but there are plenty of games out there that don't last too terribly long that are worth the price of admission.

All this being said, let's maybe wait until we hear more about the game before we start arguing about whether or not it's worth a premium. I maintain that it's looking like a better excuse for a premium than the myriad ports they've been putting on the Switch, though.

$40 would be nice, but I'll probably use some of my gamestop points to get it from $60 to $40 anyways. I have this on my 3DS but never got that far with it.....80% of this game will be new to me and I'm in the mood to play some more Legend of Zelda.

The question if Nintendo should be selling a remade gameboy game for $60 will be answered by how well it sells at that price. Switch games in general seem to have a slightly higher price tag which I'm not a fan of. Just because it is on a switch does a game deserve to sell for more than on other platforms?

No, remakes and reimaged remakes don't normally sell for full price. Even the recent re2 sells for about £35-40 compared to £40-50.

Nintendo will run their Nintendo tax in everything and expect people to pay full price. They're doing it with their Wii U ports. So this is no surprise.

I don't think any remasters are worth the money. I think developing remasters are a waste of time. We already played those games. Make a game we haven't played.

Link's Awakening is a great game, but this seems like a slightly lazy remake. There have been more substantial remakes that have cost less.

As a full remake, and therefore, as a game built from the ground up, it’s probably more worth full price than a typical port of a WiiU title. Ask this question in a year or so after release and my stance may be a little different, but let’s cross that bridge when it comes.

One site I checked placed the value of a 1993 dollar at $1.77 today, and another at $1.74. Let's call it a 75% numerical increase to keep things simple. That makes the $30 price of the original game come out to $52.50 today. So $60 for an enhanced remake doesn't seem so bad. Then again, will they actually charge that much? I haven't seen an MSRP announcement.

What a lot of people [looking at you, people who point at other new games getting discounts left and right] aren't taking into consideration, is that this remake is also going to be the first time a lot of Switch owners will experience this entry of the series.
Many weren't around for the previous releases or didn't get them, and for those that were/did, this is a remake most have been wanting to see happen for a long time.

If they were just re-releasing the original or the DX version on the Eshop, then I could see $60 being too much.
But this is NOT a straight port of either of the older versions.

Just like the recent remake of Resident Evil 2, this game is a from-the-ground-up revamp that's sure to have new things in it beyond the graphics and perspective differences.
No matter what the naysayers say, if others can do remakes at full price and "get away with it", there's no reason Nintendo shouldn't be able to do the same, because these games are just as good, at minimum.

I'm all for trying to get the best deals on my games as I can, but this game isn't just a straight up port, with nothing fresh about it.

It's remade from the ground up for Switch, with new gameplay features, assets, audio, lighting, etc.

Now I don't know if Nintendo have confirmed the release price, but if they can justify charging that price for things like DKTF and other games like that then it's likely many will pay $60 for this.

I forget exactly how big Link's Awakening is, but I recall it's pretty big and this may also have fleshed out areas and other new areas, with new puzzles and enemies to beat.
It looks great too me, if money allows I'll definitely get this.

Definitely not lol. This game legit looks like a phone game with generic assets you could buy everywhere. It might still be fun but if it's 60$ I will just pirate it. I don't know. Resident Evil 2 is technically the same: Same game, better graphics, new mechanics, and it's full price. It'll last you about 8 hours (according to howlongtobeat.com) wich is about right, and 10 hours with extra missions. Now, Link's awakening DX (the GBC game) will give you, at least, 14 hours, 10 hours if you speedrun it.

So, why is it ok for Capcom but not for Nintendo? You'll get more for your money.

FF 8 had one of my favorite openings, the music and the editing was phenomenal and still good to this day.

All-time game trailers. You must have missed a LOT. 90's production levels were great because they did not know WTF they were doing and the trailers were either high-budget known director or Benny from the sound department who can also edit (and sometimes these were unconstrained and amazing).
