For those that haven’t kept up with it, recently Marvel’s Spider-Man came under a little heat for something being referred to as #Puddlegate. The whole thing is ridiculous and centers around a freaking puddle that was shown in a trailer that moved places in the game’s full release.
KnowTechie breaks down five of the worst offenders:

Why? According to the well publicized Insomniac leaks they have a slew of plans for Spiderman including its sequel.
The sequel has had rumors that it could be sold piecemeal style or might be GaaS.

This is all coming from the leaks you mentioned. The problem is the industry is not doing well no matter how ill-informed people spin it on here when they see “sold 3 mill.” In those Sony leaks it showed the struggle to get ROI and they spend an insane amount of money to develop, which makes 0 sense to me when there’s not much to show for the increased development costs. Case in point would be Suicide Squad vs Arkham Knight.
I believe we’re in the middle of seeing a drastic change in media and distribution. This goes for movies, but more so for games and the industry is scrambling to figure out how to get more money out of consumers rather than stick to the “buy it once” to play it all.

These are things you need to pay attention to in order to know which direction the wind’s blowing with this sh*t storm. I was almost certain the GaaS initiative was killed when Jim was leaving, but now seeing the success of Helldivers 2… I’m thinking we’re in for a bumpy ride. I just don’t know what that looks like yet, but I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty.
Insomniac still has a good generation left in them before they get cannibalized by investors. It'll probably happen around the mid PS6 gen, when we see the beginning of the fall.

Seems unlikely when they abandoned the GaaS spiderverse game but are still going ahead with single player games like Wolverine and Spider-Man 3.
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.
Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.
There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.
Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence
The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Spiderman is legit one of the best looking games I've seen
I would have to say Aliens: Colonial Marines might be the worst offender here since the game was just flat out awful. Killzone was more or less unintentional, as it was an in-house target video of what they hoped to achieve. Sony was silly and showed it off thus giving the impression of what the game looked like. Witcher 3 was still an amazing game downgrade or not, and even though the Division was stripped down a little, it was still an ok game. Watch Dogs is probably the one that takes the most flak because of how awesome the initial video looked. Game was meh, so I guess you could argue that one is the worst offender.
I would love if Killzone 2 was remade for the PS5
Spider-Man really is a beautiful looking game. I don’t even feel like I’ve really admired the visuals to its fullest extent yet, because I’m always swinging, and never really Stopping much to just roam around on foot (which who would, when the swinging is so silky smooth & a real joy haha)
It’s absolutely ridiculous how people starting claiming “Downgrade” over a darn puddle. Never seen anything like it. Can’t wait to see what other things people will come up with to claim downgrade next year for Days Gone, TLoU 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Death Stranding lol.
Only to be proven wrong in the end, with improvements to these games visuals.
The 2005 E3 trailer of Killzone 2 was AWFUL compared to the final version. Did the author actually take a look at that video!?
