Starting to notice that many collector's edition are starting to go the "Exclusive to" route, which I gotta say i'm not surprised. People are finally starting to see just how much of a waste of money many of these things are. Plus it's a known fact Capcom CE's are complete garbage, I don't even have to go into detail.

littletad2103d ago

There are some collectors editions I'd still like to get though, but i'd never give gamestop my money for this stuff. I prefer when you have an option to get them directly from their publisher/developer store.

MrSwankSinatra2103d ago

I agree, publisher store is always the best route to go with these editions. Currently the only CE I have pre-order this year is the Dragon Quest XI, Edition of Lost Time. Thing comes with a "full" CD soundtrack, an "actual" artbook not one of those crap mini artbooks, a steelbook (i'm hoping it's glossy and not matte finish), cloth map and the game which has a reversible cover with the japanese artwork.

darthv722103d ago

No steelbook in this one.... sad panda.

CobraKai2103d ago

Remember when a collectors edition meant paying $10 bucks more for a nice case and extra content? I miss those days

MrSwankSinatra2103d ago (Edited 2103d ago )

Man those were the days. Edition back then usually came with cool shit for a fair price like, a different cover, nice tin box or steelbook, had a behind the scenes making of documentary, etc. Hell one of my favorite ones was the DMC4 collector's edition. The game had a slipcase and steelbook, but the steelbook and slipcase were designed to point where each cover on the steel could be used as the front art and it came with a making of dvd and the first four episodes to the devil may cry anime, which also had a voucher that could get you the actual physical box to put the dvd when the official release came out. shit was so awesome back in those days. Now they just wanna sell us overpriced junk, with statues that aren't even up to par in good quality

CobraKai2103d ago

It’s funny cuz I was thinking about DMC4 when I wrote that.

RosweeSon2103d ago (Edited 2103d ago )

Yeah generally when exclusive to a particular store (in U.K It’s always GAME 🙄) just means they charge full RRP and have a monopoly on the item, leave it long enough and if it’s not that rare can normally get then heavily reduced not long after unless it’s one you really want just wait til after launch and the hyped died down
Also this is massively overpriced could be sold for that half that price the game a dlc code for costumes and an extra weapon or 2 worth peanuts and an art book 🙄 a snazzy box and a figure that’ll be worth £10-20 well over priced doesn’t help they are trying to sell the game for brand new AAA prices £45/50+. I love this game and looking forward to this version but not paying more than £20/30

XxExacutionerxX2103d ago

I hate the RE2 ps4/xbox one box art, what was wrong with just updating the PS1 box art

snake-OO2103d ago

That might still be a place holder image.

monkey6022103d ago

I would LOVE that model and art book but damn 200 is a straight rip off!

81BX2103d ago

Should be $250... but I'll gladly pay $300

Wagz222103d ago

I guess no one got the sarcasm lol

81BX2103d ago

Lol. Sometimes I think there is no way in hell people can think I'm serious

xander707692103d ago

Wow, look at all this bullshit they are making DLC instead including in the game, 5 costumes and 3 variations of the classic samurai edge handgun. Fuck you Capcom.

The prevalence of parrying: Why is it so popular?

Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way.  Why?

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

Dudeson32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.

New Resident Evil 2 Remake Fixed Camera Mod Adds A Nostalgic Twist

A new mod brings the highly nostalgic fixed angles to the Resident Evil 2 remake, bringing the game closer to the original 1998 experience.

REmake vs. Resident Evil 2: Which Remake Template is Better?

REmake kept the original style adding new flavour and graphics, Resident Evil 2 is a complete modernisation. Which remake style is superior?

TheBrainZ63d ago

The GameCube remake was stunning for its time but the new modernisation efforts are breathing some much-needed life into the older games.

kevco3363d ago

I loved the GC remake back in 2000-whatever. But I tried replaying it recently and just couldn't deal with the door loading sequences.

Have I been spoilt by modern games? Probably.

Neonridr63d ago

tank controls just don't work in this day and age.

Babadook762d ago

I think Tomb Raider still works but RE I'm not sure.

Neonridr62d ago

@Babadook7 - imagine an updated Resident Evil or Tomb Raider with tank controls? you can't walk and turn at the same time. It would be ridiculous to play.

__y2jb63d ago

Both are fantastic but the old style controls and the half way house attempt to modernize them in remake both feel extremely dated now. Taking away your preference for the various settings and characters, the recent remakes are objectively better games.

rippermcrip63d ago

I think anyone voting for REmake is simply doing it out of nostalgia. No way a new young gamer is going to pick that over the new ones. I couldn't even get my son to play the game for more than an hour.

KyRo63d ago

Nope. REmake has a totally different vibe, feel and tension that the newer remakes can't replicate due to the camera angle. Yes the original fixed camera was used for technical reason but at the same time, they created a feeling of dread not knowing what was around the corner. You simply don't get that with a third person camera as great as the third person RE games are.

FYouDad62d ago

Depends what sort of experience you're looking for. If you enjoy the old fixed camera OG style then REmake is to me the pinnacle of the form. Incredible atmosphere, visual style and a fantastic revision of Resident Evil 1 with additions that feel completely seamless. Resident Evil 2 Remake in an excellent update (especially running with the IMO vastly superior original RE2 soundtrack) with the benefits of modern design but I still prefer the original game.. it didn't "overwrite" that experience in my mind the way REmake felt like it became the definitive RE1 experience.
