Is Yakuza 6's Price Drop Enough to Compete With God of War?

Gadgets 360: "We talk about Yakuza 6’s many mini-games, what happens when you take a selfie with a group of thugs in the vicinity, as well as spoiler-free impressions of its plot, characters, editions, PS4 and PS4 Pro performance as well as its price drop in certain regions like India to compete with God of War."

Do you really expect Yakuza 6 to ever have a chance of selling more than God of War 4

NecrumOddBoy2250d ago

For these to be both PS4 exclusives and Sony property, I'm really surprised that they didn't just put Yakuza 6 out this month. I know they're different genres for a different audience but at the end of the day it's just going to get trampled and that's not really a smart business decision making there I think.

cooperdnizzle2250d ago

To different type of consumers. Simple as that really

UCForce2249d ago

@shloobmm3 I don’t think so. God of War series is mega seller.

rainslacker2249d ago

I agree. They'd be better off releasing it a few weeks before, or a month after. It was already delayed until April.

This is kind of like Fallout 4 suddenly releasing on the same day as ROTTR. ROTTR didn't stand a chance.

Yakuza may get stomped in the US by GoW but theres other territories.. Plus Yakuza is a SEGA IP..

Segata2249d ago

No, but Yakuza is the better series by far.

Silly gameAr2249d ago

Funny opinion coming from someone with "Segata". as their username. Funny ads, though.

Segata2249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

@Silly gameAr
I only got into Yakuza series last year. I played God of War 2 in 2007 and Chains on PSP when it came out and played the demo of Ascension. I kept trying to give the series a chance but I can't help it that I just hate God of War. Everything about that series I just hate. Yakuza never appealed to me first decade or so. Then when I had interest I put it off since it was so many games in I just shrugged it off and thought I'd never play it. Then 0 came out, played it then Kiwami and 5. That's when I fell in love with the series is in 2017. I understand you think of this name I automatically like any SEGA series (I don't, Vectorman sucks and I don't care for Toejam and Earl and I didn't even buy Sonic Mania) but funny enough I made up my own mind. So your assumption based on my name is a fallacy.

syphon322249d ago

you work for them, no where in this solar system is yakuza better than GOW

Silly gameAr2248d ago

You took my comment a lot more seriously than I thought you would. Your name is based off of Segata Sashiro, right? Yakuza is a Sega franchise. I was just ribbing you about your name, while disagreeing with your opinion. It is your opinion and your preference, and I understand that.

I care more about God of War's narrative, but I think I'l have more fun with Yakuza 6.

Fortunately, I can indulge both.

firelogic2250d ago

Yakuza 6 could have launched on January 1, 2018 and God of War December 31, 2018 and GoW would outsell it for 2018 and of course lifetime.

CP_Company2250d ago

ech, this is bad move for Yakuza 6 :/ they need to delay again! into May 10 at least. that month pretty clear for games.
pre ordered God Of War Collection Edition, not gonna bother with Yakuza this time around, they made bad move. this is no brainer for most people, they gonna choose God Of War.

this could be very bad for Yakuza series in the west, because they are considering to localize Yakuza Kiwami 2 and Fist of the North Star, but if Yakuza 6 going to sell poorly, it could never happen.

CP_Company2249d ago

Xaxa, xbox lickers showed their inferiority complexes.

FBNS2249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

I don't know what fotns has to do with this... Also... Your argument is pretty lame. So you're telling me you're not gonna buy another single game for the rest of your life? I don't think so. So then, eventually you'll buy both... See, that's not so complicated is it.

Yi-Long2250d ago

They're very different games. God of War is aimed at mass market, although I have a feeling some fans of the old games might not like the new direction the series has now taken.

Personally, I'm very much looking forward to Yakuza 6. But it's always been a series that appeals to a niche market, who are open to new gaming experiences and not scared of playing a game that's very Japanese, including Japanese voices.

sprinterboy2249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

Coundnt agree anymore, theirs gonna be haters out there for sure come release day with no jump button and the games gonna need some great varied side quests.
I'm a fan of the series for sure and openly agree they needed a new direction for the franchise but I habe to admit I'm slightly nervous.
Main story will be great for sure but I hate most games side quests as they get boring fast with open world games, so I hope there varied and interesting. Plus I hope the boy doesn't get annoying.

Dark_Knightmare22249d ago (Edited 2249d ago )

Gow isn't open world I really wish people would quit spreading that misinformation. That's going to be what disappoints people when they get home thinking their getting ready to start an open world adventure and find out it's not. It's never been marketed as open world and it doesn't really have sidequests more like little detours to get distracted by if a player so chooses.

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
