Don't buy either if you like legit racing and go get iRacing on PC. As a driving simulator GT is fine but pales in comparison to sim racing on PC with a racing rig. Arguing about driving sims while using a controller is hilarious. That said, I enjoy both. I find the racing in forza to be extremely satisfying and the weather elements add an fun layer. That said, the actual driving in GT is better than forza.

Always see this on N4G, with very little actual comment aside from some fanboy BS. GTS does have the better handling model and physics. But its a marginal difference...its still not at the level of PC2, AC, iRacing, RaceRoom etc.

So, are you saying GTS with less cars, tracks, and content than Forza 5 that came out 4 years ago and was slammed for like of content, and that developers says they dumb down because of players lack of knowledge is a legit driving Sim?

Have you driven any of the cars in the game to actually know how accurate GTS is to real life? I have. I've raced and modified cars customers. Forza was much closer to the way the cars felt and reacted than GT 5 and 6 with my Fanetec pedal, wheel, and shifter setup.

i have a ps4 and enjoy many of its games that are available (i have more then 30 on it now) but the fact of the matter is this. Forza 7 is the better looking, better playing, more content filled experience. it’s a no brainer

Only problem with Forza 7, is the fact that a TON of cars are locked behind loot crates and there's something called homoloigation which makes modifying and tuning your car a waste because the game automatically tunes the car. So you can only use your own tunes in free play. That's right, FREE PLAY, so no campaign or even fucking online. What a waste of money that game is. I wish reviews said all of this.

I don't have an X1 so I can't talk about FM7, but there's power balancing in all online races in GTS, and they've completely stripped back all the tuning and customisation to bare bones compared to previous GT entries.

I have both. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to boot up F7 again, and I really like it. GTS is incredible when it comes to the thing that matters, driving. And no, F7 is not "better looking" than GTS. You've got to have some heavy bias to believe that. Unless it looks way better on XB1, I play it maxed out on PC @60fps locked..

Metacritic says GTS 77% and Forza 7 87%. So Forza 7 is objectively better than GTS. It is the best choice of the two.

People like you need to learn the difference between "objective" and "general consensus".

How does the opinion of a selection of reviewers constitute objectivity? Even if EVERY reviewer suggested Forza 7 was better, that' would,
at best, be "unanimous".

Second, Forza 7 has an 87 at the time of this writing from 71 reviewers -- Gran Turismo Sport is at 78 from 10. It's likely to change over the coming week, for better or worse.

But if we're talking about scores, Forza 7 is doing worse among users. I'm sure we'll hear all about the fanboys voting it down. Yeah, well, maybe-- you must also entertain the possibility that the same is happening with Sport. But it still proves my point: these scores couldn't be any further from objective than they are now and always will be.

Maybe Forza 7 will become the graphically superior game/sim when the X hits, but I guarantee the PS4 Pro and Gran Turismo with sixty fps eat Forza 7 for lunch at this point in time. And, in the long-run, GT is going to be remembered as the overall better racing simulator between the two—regardless of all else.

I'd have to go with Forza Motorsport 7, by Turn 10. Polyphony Digital is struggling to make a racer competent enough to hold its own against the competition. GT Sport is OK at best, while some other racers are fantastic. The last GT game was terrible. Sony has excellent first party talent. Sadly, Polyphony are not among them.

Not really true. Im PS and PC man, never had xbox. I considered buying FM7 for PC. But focus on online and car enthusiasm won and I bought GT sport instead. Everyone has their reason. And some people are always defending "their" console. But lot of people in the end buy what appeal to them more. I dont have anything against xbox and forza. I also have PC1 and its good game from my perspective. But none of other games (I tried FM7, but I saw only videos from PC2 - I assume from reviews, that PC2 has similar feeling like PC1) dont have that GT essence which I simply need.

I see, what are gt sport negatives for many:
-lack of cars, tracks and weather system
-always online for profile progress
-subtle offline career or single player content if you prefer

And these are reasons gt sport will not have so much fans in the beginning. It can grow like driveclub. It can be next big online thing. I considered its good to support it and enjoy it.

I'm not getting either. I'm still enjoying some time with FH3 at work where they have a good wheel set up. I wouldn't buy it to play at home because I don't care to invest in a wheel set up for Xbox. They may get FM7, in which case I'll play it there when I can. Although since it's work, it doesn't lend itself to copious time playing either game.

GT:S doesn't offer up what I'm looking for in a racing game, so it's not even really a consideration, despite my love of the series itself. I have no reason to get a wheel set up on PS4 like I planned this gen just for GT:S. As of right now, Driveclub with my crappy wheel when I feel like setting it up, or just using the controller tends to satisfy the occasional urge. I might pick up project cars for PS4 since I do have my crappy wheel there, but outside drive club, my driving itch has been woefully unfulfilled this gen. Really unhappy about that, but life goes on.

I'd say if I was overly compelled to get a racing game, and a wheel set up to play it on, it'd probably be Forza at this moment.

So total lack of single player mode is OK now. 24/7 Online thing is OK now. GT Sport plays great but it's yet another game after Destiny and such like that will feed us with DLC - It feels more like demo to me.

There's an actual single player mode. It is just not the same as before, and that is still and SP mode regardless of what you or anyone think. It is one thing to be disappointed with not having the same SP mode as before, and another thing is not having anything at all.

24/7 online is also not entirely true. Obviously you need online to play... hear this... online mode. And the DLC is supposedly free. I hope they are not lying with that so we have to wait and see. The Destiny comparison is unwarranted

gt sport has great core mechanics but how can anybody defend the massive lack of content, no single player campaign and the massive restrictions when offline. what these diehard gt/sony fanboys don't realize is that if you don't call them out on these things the next game will be another let down. look at a game like halo 5 for example, people called them out on no split screen, poor story and lack of multiplayer modes at launch and split screen has already been confirmed for the next game, fingers crossed the other two get sorted as well

Your career is actually all-encompassing in GTS. What you choose to do is up to you. Want to race in the class/car on the track of your choice? Go ahead. You'll still get progress towards your career. Rather race online casually or competitively? Go ahead. You'll still get progress towards your career. Time trails? Go ahead. You'll still get progress towards your career. Drifting? Rally? Go ahead. You'll still get progress towards your career. Driving school? Career challenges? Go ahead. You'll still get progress towards your career. People barking about career mode are literally angry about nothing.

There is absolutely no requirement to participate in Forza microtransactions.

I have been playing the game (unlike you obviously). And am finding it no slower or faster to progress then any of the previous Forza games (I have played Forza since Motorsports 3). And I see no advantage to the microtransactions other then someone who wants to make the game easier to play (which to me defeats the purpose of a racing sim).

One thing I would advise serious Forza gamers is to log into the Forza Hub every Friday and redeem your Forza rewards each week. Because I have played since the beginning I get 275,000 credits per week free!

Forza reaches 4K with sacrifices to the backgrounds. GT has 4K support with lighting and cars again looking better.
Forza has rated higher and keeps selling lesser than previous entries. GT will roll right over it with its better driving model again with lesser rated reviews.
Forza requires an Xbox live subscription to play against others as well as GT.

GT has VR and Forza does not.
GT has FIA support and Forza does not but it's supposedly the "better racer"
GT will have international and manufacturer races. Forza will not
GT AI is still better than Forza
GT pad and wheel support is still better than Forza

Let's just summarize, you own a PS4, will never support Xbox One and don't plan on investing in PC gaming. Therefore you are not only obliged to support your PS4, you go one step further and look at every fault of Xbox games such as Forza 7, maginify them by 10 and then go on to defend Sony titles such as GT Sport.

To me on the other hand both titles offer a good expereince depending on what you are looking for. If you want a competitive more realistic online title then GT Sport will be the better choice. If you waant a more robust all around package then Forza 7 will be your choice. The biggest problem GT Sport has is it needs to be played online and we all know the history of Sony and its support of GT online plus when the servers go down then what? Forza 7 seems to have it's biggest obstacle of having loot crates riddled within the title. So it all depends on what you are willing to put up with.

-Its telling that these days many of GTSports biggest denfenders are coincidentally the same freedom fighters *recently for all gamers in regards to microtransactions but most have no pitchforks out to save us from the dreaded always online= DRM or so I was told by the Booogeyman at the start of this gen. On FM7, sunny at the start, foggy with light rain drops mid-race, and pouring rain with thunderstorm at the end of the race. That is dynamic.

On GT Sport, Sunny at the start, sunny mid-race, and sunny at the end of the race. That is not dynamic.

Try playing F7. Just sit on the track and watch those skies. It's a real thing of beauty to watch in a game. Clouds rolling in and out, the night/day change, how the sun shines, the rain, the mist and fog etc. It's just wow in a racing game.

@apocalypse don't you think in 4 years they could of went a "new" direction without sacrificing all that they did which is a massive amount of content? I'd would give GT sport 10/10 If it was sold at 19.99 but surely not 59.99... it should have been named "GT online" from the get go and sold cheaper. Because compared to GT 6 in 4 years later we lost a massive amount of content and options that we loved.

there’s an entire campaign mode that will take over 60hrs to complete that can be played completely offline. you won’t be able to play everything (online races) but you also won’t have a lack of things to do without online

Only online MP races but there is a career campaign mode that is fully playable offline. So yes, you don't need an online sub to enjoy the game.

Without online MP, where GT Sport's main focus is on due to it's deal with the FIA, and without a proper GT career campaign mode, it is barebone without PS Plus. That is what I was referring to.

Where was your pluses when GT had more cars than Forza and day/night and weather and Forza didn't? Also in reality if a race last for a short period of time the time of day wouldn't transition, in fact its odd to have the day cycle from day to night in a ten lap race that last twenty to thirty minutes tops. The only time this is even an issue is during something like a 24 hour race. And lets be real you'd go with option A cause GT wont play in your xbone which is the only console you own but thanks for making your pointless list anyway.

I didn't ask you a question. You were wrong, I corrected you. Forza 7 does not have dynamic weather. If you sit on the track, the weather does not change...at all. It changes based on how much of the track you completed. That's not dynamic weather. That's scripted weather.

I think you forgot to say.

If you are interested in motor racing games (it may surprise you but not that many people are interested) and have an XB1 then you would most likely purchase Forza. If you want to play a motor racing game and only had a PS4 then you would go for GT Sport.

Obviously, if you have both the XB1 and PS4 then what motor racing game you wish to play is entirely up to you.

If you only have a Switch well you can't play Forza or GT Sport.😊

BTW. Depending on your console you need a Live or PS+ subscription if you want to play online.

This! It's the most fun racing game this gen. I only own a PS4 so I'm hoping NFS Payback turns out as promising as it looks. Hopefully it's somewhat similar to Horizon in the open world, customization etc.

The title with the best console driving simulation isn’t mentioned here. It’s PCars2. It definitely has better physics than both F7 and GTS. I would know as I have all 3 and have played all 3 with Logitech g29 and 920 respectively, with H pattern shifters (Strangley GTS doesn’t support a clutch setting). Also PCars2 isn’t an exclusive so anyone can get it.

you’re definitely right there as far as a true racing sim. The customizations just under the hood in that game are mind boggling. I prefer the more arcade feel of forza horizon and the world. No doubt you’re right as far as true blue sims though.

Best console sim has to be Assetto Corsa. At least from a physics/FFB standpoint. The rest of it from a "game" standpoint is rather lacking..

The best thing about being an open-minded, nonfanboy is that you can do things like buy both as I did. And both are excellent. F7 is probably a stronger title with more on offer but GTS got the GT franchise out of a terrible rut and came out swinging. I’m pleased with both. Also. Nobody mentioned pcars2 which is a HUGE improvement over the previous release. Great time to be a racing fan in the video game space.

Reviews and MC seem to support my impressions with GTS at 77%, F7 at 86% and PCars2 at 86%(xo) and 84% (ps4). Not sure why PCars2 has a slightly higher score on xo cuz it probably runs slightly better on PS4 and also has Pro support (One X support at launch) but there it is.

For single player of course its Forza all the way, nothing even to compare here. For multiplayer? Well, Forza have much more cars and tracks, but GTS has this all ranking mode, but we need time to see how it really works.

An offline game does not have much longevity but this GTS is an online game. It will probably be the only GT in that generation and will have support until the end of it. I can not say the same of Forza 7.

Gonna download the Forza 7 demo later and see which I prefer. I played Forza 6 apex and that is actually what got me looking into racers which I never do so if 7 is an improvement on that then I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Yes. There is actually quite alot to do in the ‘campaign’ mode. I played it for 12 hours yesterday and didn’t even complete half of them. The toughest challenge will be getting a Gold for the time trial at that large German track.. That will be the bain of my existence.

Doesn't really seem like an option if you have a choice. PlayStation fans are going to defend GT SPORT til they're blue in the face and Xbox fans are going to defend Forza til they're blue in the face.. Definitely seems like Forza 7 takes this round handily though. On paper it's not even close.

I'm surprised PS faithful aren't more upset they waited so long for a game so short on content.. Is GT SPORT the most realistic sim racer?? That you can argue but Project Cars 2 and Forza 7 are better racers. It looks like Forza 7 is king metacritic wise overall the way things are going for GT Sport

I bought GTS since i already have a PS4 with 600 games and a racing wheel and i won't buy an Xbone for only one game better or not. Dah! This question seems to be only for people who have not a console and they planing to buy one or they have both and they can choose in between. For the rest 90% of gamers it's up to which console you own. Second Dah! The right question if you wanna make the fanboys fight is "Which racer is better?" not "Which one should you buy". Third Dah?! I can't judge Forza since a i haven't played it but GTS is awesome so far. Online is the most meaningful i have encounter in racers with second being Dirt Rally and the single player is more sandbox since to level up and make money you can do whatever you want and not just specific events. I'll be playing this baby for hundreds of hours for sure.

If you can afford it, both. I've always preferred GT over past Forza titles myself - the AI in Forza always came across as a little too aggressive, like it was trying to engage in a demolition derby more than a race. But to be fair, I haven't yet tried out the current gen Forza titles (previously, I only owned a 360). Next month, I'm finally planning on getting a X1S during Black Friday-Cyber Monday, and expect to get it for $200 or less. Really looking forward to trying out FH3, and also look forward to collecting some fun cars in FM7.

Forza has way more content as well as a legit offline sp campaign to go with weather, mods, more cars and tracks and full damage. I was really hyped for GT sport but not being able to even save unless your online??? Really PD??? For a GT with less features than ever before it sucks they couldn't at the least throw in a bare bones offline campaign. I'm not going to defend this lackluster effort as much as I love my PS4 Pro.

As someone that has both an xbox and ps4, I'm much more excited about GTsport. To me, it's a question of quality over quantity. Sure, Forza has tons of content, but I would get bored of Forza long before I went through it all. Learning to drive better and competing in a skill based format is the entire draw to racing games for me, and Forza driving has always felt more like an arcade game to me.

It’s two racing’s games but at the same time two very different racing games. If I was a gear head and a simulator enthusiast I would go with GT Sport.

Im just a gamer so I personally would pick Forza 7.

If its down to getting one or the other, the choice is pretty clear. Its Forza Mototrsport 7.

Full SP offline career mode
Tons more cars
Tons more tracks and ribbons
Dynamic weather
Dynamic ToD
Unlockables
Tons more event types and variety
Better graphics and sound (imo)

Its no contest.

Neither. Track games are technical demos at best. Little sense of speed and lack depth. Man I miss burnout paradise, but NFS payback is almost here. Hope it's the spiritual successor that series deserves.

No brainer. Forza 7 all day. Why buy a game with less content and always online and with Sony's track record. The server will be shut down in less than a year.

My unbiased opinion is that if you own a PS4 buy GT, and if you own an Xbox buy Forza, and if you own a Switch enjoy your Mario Kart.

By far Forza looks to be the better game. The only reason GT Sport seems to be scoring even close to FM7 is cause there are reviews from no name sites trying to trash FM7 (over things that aren't even true) and inflate scores for GT Sport. I wouldn't go far enough to say GT Sport is a bad game, I haven't even played it (or FM7), but based on the meat of the reviews...FM7 seems to win hands down on every single front.

By reading most of the comments in here it’s pretty simple actually. The one for which console you own. They’re obviously different, but both appear to be great. It’s pretty clear that N4G seems to lean towards single console owners. I mean WTF. Coexist for Christ sake.

If you want same old but newer graphics, go with forza 7. If you want something fresh, Car eccentric, purpose built with gorgeous graphics, go with GT Sport.

I'd say Forza Motorsport 7. It is the more refined game. GT Sports reminds me of FM5: Great game but sparse content, the first steps in next gen and needs more tweaking. I think GT Sports will get there with the next itterations where FM7 now is.
Of course the choice is obvious if you only own one of the two platforms, lol.

We already have Forza 7 and it's the bollocks.

We will get GT Sport on PS4 Pro just for me. It's the only game I have actually bought for "me" on the PS4 Pro..

I don't give a f@ck about loot boxes and whether it's only online since I'm always online anyway..

I understand the reasoning behind comparing these two games. The diamond in the rough however, is Project Cars 2. There is something about that game to me that trumps Forza 7. There is a fun factor to Project Cars that Forza lacks. Maybe I’m bored of the Forza franchise, I’m not sure. I have already read enough about GT Sport, to know, that there is no need to purchase it if you already have PC2 on your PS4. I feel like the Forza vs. GT sport battle is undermining the best racer this year, which is Project Cars2.

If you want fun and rewarding SIM racer which give options to both hardcore and casual fans to enjoy racing without punishing them then go with Forza

There no debate as gamer,we need to stop.
We know that Grand Turismo is a better racing game in general. I Play all the forza since 2005. It just have nothing on gt. Since forza is like madden. Same shit different problem they fix one problem another major issues pop up. Polyphony Digital is a company that been around since dawn of PS. They take there sweet ass time dropping there sht. Like I said before quality over quantity.

GTsport all the way! I've no choice. I only have a PS4 and can't afford buy and invest time into another console right now. lol. Plus with these stupid wheels I'd have to buy ANOTHER wheel for the xbox. Why can't Thrustmaster make a wheel for both? For you fanboys I'm not opposed to forza or xbox. I never played any of them but I'm, sure they are great racers too.
