Good, that's what I want to hear. This exclusivity stuff seems to take all the headlines, it should be about games and enjoying games, not excluding others. I don't care if Microsoft doesn't want Xbox One only games, how does that make the games better? I want them to make good games, that's it. So far they are very few and far between but them leveraging Windows 10 has nothing to do with that.

As far as "xbox has no games" when people say this they mean AAA compelling great games. New ips that impress all and review high. A system seller, like zelda or horizon, or spiderman, or God of war....like big time games.
MS E3 had 0 AAA console exclusive's that say buy my console for this.

I don't disagree with you obviously Microsoft is good to use Windows to sell their games but that doesn't actually take away the fact that those games are not exclusive , it actually only further confirms their appearing somewhere else.

Even if we assume xbox has ANY exclusives, that statement isnt saying much. Xbox 360 literally stopped supporting it platform with any major exclusives in the second half of the generation (which is what i assume will happen this generation as well). Secondly, this generation has more small indies than the last.

But most importantly, i wonder if this article is counting the "22 exclusives" that MS touted at this E3. Because, well, we found out MS has a new definition of what is "exclusive".

I think you are just exaggering PC numbers just to downplay the need for the Xbox. When Destiny 2 ships then come back to me about how much PS4 players revert to PC gaming. Or Call of Duty, or Battlefront 2. Sony would be in major trouble if people went to the PC for multiplat titles.

Microsoft just wants you to be in that space whether it's on Xbox or your Windows 10 PC. After all most revenue is from software and services, not hardware. The fact that there is so little discussion on this forum about PC talk makes me think a lot of it is just posturing at the expense of making Xbox seem irrelevant. We will see and I hope you say is true, I want the PC gaming sector to thrive but what most people here want to talk about are exclusives.

Statistically I would assume more people who own a PlayStation 4 are likely to own a gaming PC then more people who own an Xbox one simply because mathematically more people own a PlayStation 4...

Because those games are also releasing on PC it further questions why anyone would likely own an Xbox in a PC as opposed to a Playstation 4 and a PC.

Mind you I'm not the only one that owns a PlayStation as well as a PC I had many friends last generation that did the same thing you have to understand that when your system is already getting Gears of War Alan Wake both Left 4 Dead games as well as some of the Fable games it becomes sort of difficult to justify really buying an Xbox especially when Mass Effect in BioShock came it was pretty easy to never purchase the system.

Could you imagine how easy it was during the PlayStation 2 generation to never buy an Xbox? Both Knights of the Old Republic ,Fable Doom ,half life 2, both halos... I mean seriously it was a very easy to not purchase that system because I already owned a gaming PC and at that time when I was younger my family could not justify buying a game console for stuff that was already appearing on PC that I literally could play.

You could get as emotional as you want but this is no different than somebody looking at a streaming service that's a literally just offering all the same things on a service they already own.

Owning a gaming PC all Every Generation has done to me was reinforced my need to keep owning a gaming PC and I've always upgraded every single generation because of that it was actually cheaper for me to continue to upgrade than it ever was to just buy an Xbox during the start of a generation especially considering it's not as if I was always playing every last one of Microsoft's titles.

I stopped caring about half their properties along time ago I actually didn't even buy the latest Fable game that released on PC I have no plans to buy Halo 6 when it comes to PC so even all of their titles are not even desirable enough for me to buy the software on PC so why would I buy the whole system for Content I'm not even playing on a system I already own?

They are windows 10 brand exclusives, you can own a pc all you like but if your not invested in the windows 10 brand you won't be playing those games.

Microsoft doesnt care how many different platforms can use the windows 10 brand, those games are exclusive to the windows 10 brand. I can have Netflix on pc, Xbox one and my mobile phone, and anything exclusive or not on Netflix I am unable to play if I don't buy into the subscription of netflix, doesn't matter what platform I am on. I can download netflix all I like on that platform but till the whole concept of buying into there service is achieved, makes me unable to use that said content.

People need to stop seeing this as just because a brand of games or films can be played on another platform makes it not exclusive anymore, when really what they need to see is the whole buy in of the subscription service making any content that isn't made for other platforms exclusive to that brand.

I think the correct phrase then is Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive. PS4 fan's say PC which as we all know is inaccurate. If you have a Linux Distro or a FreeBSD paint job like Mac OSx you're sh1t out of luck.

Now with Microsoft they thought their ecosystem should encompass their Windows infrastructure too hence the incorporation of Xbox gaming and XBL integration into Windows 10.

So if MS talk about new IP's that are First Party, you know the chances are you're getting what you want in a game that you can play on the system you want... as long was it's Windows 10.

@moldybread Because there is no reason to own an Xbox if you have a PC, PC can play all the same games, much better depending on the setup. On the note of the original article, there may be more "xbox family (ie. pc+xbox) exclusives, but there aren't many of as high quality. Latest gears was fun, but I can't think of anything that has come out on the xbox that I've thought to myself, shoot I wish I really had one.

Important to note, I build my first PC in 10 years this year and ps4 is the first sony platform I've owned, Huge xbox and 360 fan, but the xbone was a big step back imo.

The article is using a metric to count that the people who discuss the number of exclusives don't use when making the argument that a console does or does not have exclusives. Even if you don't consider PC, and leave it to console exclusives, when the argument is made, we are all talking about high profile AAA games, or even less noticed mid-tier games.

If we really want to start including the smaller indie games, then the argument that a console has no games has to go out the window from now to eternity.....which is fine by me. But your argument, and those who say a system has no games, or defend against such arguments, do not count those games, nor do those games make any fan boy list. It's about as meaningful as someone posting those "So and So console has almost 1000 games" links, when half those games are not really all that exciting, or fall into the shovelware side of the indie spectrum.

It hasn't been for a longtime how can an under performing in any way you wanna look at it console be selling more than a console that even with all its launch issues managed to clear 80-85 million consoles Xbox one is barely clearly 30 currently... unless they planning Mass reductions in its later life and even then would still need some more games they are never gonna clear 50 million let alone 80. So how is it tracking anywhere near 360 which was actually continually outselling PS3 month after month especially in the US.

@andrew and tar, i have used RRoD in relation to xb1 sales many times. It is no secret that RRoD contributed to the overall units sold of the 360 but there is no such thing on the xbo. People who bought multiple xbo units did so of their own free will, not out of necessity like the 360.

I am somewhat of an anomaly. I intentionally have 5 xb360 units and only 1 of them suffered the RRoD and was repaired. The other 4 i purchased because they are variants to the original (I am a hardware collector... go figure). It should also come as no surprise that there are those who will buy multiple of something if they feel each one is different than the other. Case in point... hardware collectors go for the color and model variants of systems like the N64, PS2 and 360 / PS3.

Hell, I have 5 PS2 as well, each one is different from the next. As to your point (andrew) about people upgrading their xbo well yeah that can and does happen. Just like people have upgraded their ps4. How many is unknown unless Sony were to release a breakdown of the individual sku's. We know the slim is the better seller vs the pro and it may be the same situation for the 1x as well. At some point I will have all 3 versions of the xbo just as i will have all 3 versions of the ps4. Right now i only have the base model on both and will get the others when the time is right.

Before you insult someone you should ACTUALLY take the time to read your OWN link. If you read further down a couple comments you would see that someone already debunked those claims because ironically the France Xbox Wiki link is in fact updated using VGchartz numbers. Which again Xbox numbers are always bumped up and overtracked.

Xbox 360 had plenty of 90+ rated remarkable exclusive games.
Xbox One only has one 90+ rated exclusive that came after 3 years.

Much of 360's success last gen was due to the rather compelling and highly rated exclusives they were bringing out. Not just from MS studios, but from some 3rd party deals like with BioShock and Mass Effect. I think MS lost sight of that. Either that, or they don't realize what makes a compelling exclusive. A few glimmers in their line up, but mostly just banking on their big 3, and struggling to excite with the new IP's or other AAA/mid-tier titles they are/were working on.

Ahh port begging? so where are they? you just need to wait for 3 years and stream the games...but, where is second son? bloodborne? forget about uncharted or horizon...

But you are right on the first part of your reply. In context, it doesn't matter when they come to PC, the fact is you can play them without a PS4. hence, why I advocate for calling them MS exclusives and Sony exclusives since what we all are referring to is "your console can't play X game." So even if they do happen to release day and date, it really doesn't matter that much. Like I said the first time, semantics.

Moldybread is full of feeble excuses, just like he's the most egregious hypocrite on N4G.

I remember when he lied that Sony was downsizing their first-party painting it as a bad thing, and when Microsoft actually fully downsized and closed 8 of their first-party studios/projects in early 2016 he didn't say a thing, and wouldn't start acknowledging it until the noise got too loud when Scalebound was canceled and the integrity of their first-party games in full question. He only brings up this kind of stuff casually now and then to look balanced when he's actually biased AF and completely disingenuous. Take a look at the concern trolling he throws around in Sony articles and just ask yourself why he never goes to the lengths he does when Microsoft make similar decisions.

Case in point - and I'll keep saying this - Moldybread is more concerned with Sony's cross-play decisions on a console he doesn't own, than acknowledging the fact that Microsoft doesn't allow cross-play between Windows 10 store players and Steam on the platform he claims to prefer and games on. He'll kick up a fuss and use negative articles about cross-play to raise a stink about Sony and its fans, but he'll NEVER, EVER, EVER hold the same standards for Microsoft doing the exact same thing. What a sensational hypocrite this guy is.

If you want some added laughs, he said that he thought State of Decay 2 looked "great" when there was literally zero game footage out there, but thinks that Days Gone looks average now, after its second more interesting showing. He's all over the place with double standards, and the agenda he tries to hide, I think is really starting to be blown wide apart.
