Based on the teaser video that Nintendo showed today, the Nintendo Switch will have the best launch lineup of any console of all time.

If Mario is a launch title, which rumors point to the fact that it is, and if we get Mario Kart at launch along with Skyrim and Zelda, and then Splatoon, this will go down as the greatest launch in console history. Now nintendo will have to keep it up but the future is very exciting!

Aloy-Boyfriend2742d ago (Edited 2742d ago )

3 Remasters at launch the best lineup? really?

guywazeldatatt2742d ago (Edited 2742d ago )

Skyrim is one game and a vastly popular one at that. I have a lot of friends who are ecstatic about the idea of playing it on the go, and Nintendo owners never got to experience it.

Also Zelda is not a remaster. It was delayed in part to optimize it for the switch

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

Also for all we know Splatoon may be a sequel, who knows. But a new Mario and Zelda and Mario Kart would kill it

Erik73572742d ago (Edited 2742d ago )

Not remasters, new games. Really? Skyrim is the only remaster.

MVGeneral2742d ago (Edited 2742d ago )

Skyrim is a remaster
Zelda is a port/remaster from the wiiU

Mario and Mario kart isn't confirmed. There haven't been any trailers nor announcements and it's 3 months off, so it's highly unlikely it will release as a launch title.
Not all games shown in console launch trailers and behind the box are complete and available from day one.

Buy hey, believe what you want to believe. Stay in denial and keep giving Nintendo money, while they shove you aside to welcome the newer generation.

Nintendo needs to fail with the switch. In order for it to be bought by either Microsoft or Sony or google or apple and then we will have the definitive Nintendo experience once again.

-former Nintendo fan.

guywazeldatatt2741d ago

@nv why want the system to fail? That's ridiculous. Nintendo won't be bought out.

_-EDMIX-_2741d ago

@dark- Skyrim is popular don't get me wrong but why pretend as if it's not the greatest launch of all time simply because of a game that released in 2011? That's literally the lowest standards I've ever seen in install base ever brag about considered we're getting the remastered version of Skyrim in the next couple months and lots of gamers are not even getting it simply because of the giant games that are releasing this fall with games like Battlefield 1 the next Call of Duty Watch Dogs - Final Fantasy 15 The Last Guardian world of Final Fantasy in a bunch of other big titles.

I'm opting to not even purchase it because there's just so many games that are releasing this fall that are brand new that deserve more of my time at the moment so to brag about something that's we're getting this fall that you're going to be getting likely letter in March is beyond me.

That is nothing to really be bragging about to be honest.

ORyanDeee2741d ago

Hopefully its more than just those games, only zelda appeals to me. Fingers crossed more new IP's will be released by them and not just mario games lol

XXanderXX2741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

Didn't Last of us get ported or re-mastered like 3 times,
Point being a good game is a good game and who doesn't like to replay good games .

nix2741d ago

This will be my first Nintendo console after NES which was bought by my parents. Sadly there's no backward compatibility shock means I'll have to depend on remasters to play their previous games.

indyman77772741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

You lied to the people agreeing with you. Non of those Nintendo games are remaster, it just shows that you have not played Nintendo games and are faking like your a authority on it.

Omnislashver362741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

Zelda didn't look much better than Wii U IMO. I thought they were going to push the art style to it's limit, and there's way more LoD they could have added. I agree it's not a remaster since it's getting released at the same time, but it's not even on par with most remasters when comparing it to the other version.

Then you've got 2 remasters. I was hoping MK9 would be released with the next jump in graphics as well. I'm not saying Remasters are worst, especially as many people skipped Nintendo last-gen, but to say this is the greatest launch lineup in history is a bit of a stretch.

pcz2741d ago

i agree, a bunch of recycled wiiu games dont make the best launch line up of all time. they even had to scavenge zelda from the wiiu.

switch has absolutely nothing, just as i predicted before the reveal.

the ONLY new game it had, was that mario game. and lets face it, mario is not exciting anymore.

iplay1up22741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

Just because some remasters were show does not mean they are launch titles for one, and two the "remasters" are showing different play mechanics, so who is to say they are even remasters!

Plus why not release some Wii U games on Switch, I have a feeling Switch sales will be VERY good, that being said, Many people who will buy Switch did not buy Wii U, so they have not played Splatoon, MK8, etc.

A portable running URE4, is fantastic in itself, not to mention all of the different options of using switch! A handheld, a portable console with its own screen that uses controllers, and a docking station for the big screen!

There will be big launch titles, that is why Nintendo did not release it for the Holiday, more time for games to be developed. Also they I am sure want to get rid of surplus Wii U units.

PeaSFor2741d ago

"Nintendo owners never got to experience it."

are you implying that peoples who own nintendo consoles never own other systems?

XanderZane2740d ago

That's what I was thinking and the fact no launch lineup was even announced yet, so how do these people at " vgculturehq.com " think it's the best? The only games that even looks new and different were Super Mario and the new Zelda game. They didn't really show much. The Nintendo Switch is still a wait ad see system. I wouldn't pre-order it right now. We still don't have any specs, price or list of games with release dates.

remixx1162740d ago

XxanderXX

LOL what the hell, nobody gonna correct this clown?? It was remastered once bro...

bouzebbal2740d ago

if it's a sequel to Splatoon, a brand new Mario, Zelda and MK9 then yes that might be the best ever.. for me at least.

TheSuperiorGamer2742d ago

Even if it's just Mario and Zelda and then a few lesser titles this could still be the best launch lineup ever. The Switch is just such a cool concept and with so many partners on board I doubt we'll be lacking at launch.

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

I think they'd need one more original game first party game. If it's not Mario Kart, launch with Pikmin 4. I doubt that's the case though as Pikmin wasn't shown.

_-EDMIX-_2741d ago

.....no.

I'd say PlayStation 4 and Xbox One both launched extremely well with a plethora of games and 100% support by the major third-party Developers I just do not see that happening with the switch.

EddieNX 2741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

The PS4 launched with Knack and Killzone and some last gen games running in 1080p The Xbox one was also crap at launch. I think we can safely say, with confidence the switch is shaping up to have the best launch lineup ever. If you dissagree you're just hating.

@edmix. There was nothing compeling on Ps4 at launch, you could play all of the games on PS3 except knack and Kilzone which were shit. Terrible imo,if the Switch launches with just Zelda on its own it'l be better than PS4's line up.

_-EDMIX-_2741d ago

It did launch with Knack and it did launch with some remastered games it also launched with Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty game and an Assassin's Creed game.

that's not me hating that's me telling you the reality of its launch until we hear Electronic Arts Ubisoft and Activision all bring bringing their number one intellectual properties to this platform, we cannot say it's launch is anywhere near like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's launch which by the way also launched with the most independent games in history of any launch of any platform, that's not me hating by the way I'm buying this handheld day 1, I'm just giving you my viewpoint it has nothing to do with not liking Nintendo or anything of the sort because I actually intend to still purchase the switch. I'm just making my viewpoint from how I see things from a business standpoint , you don't need to like it , it's not there to make you feel bad or it's not there at some jab, it's simply me looking at the market and telling you something that I see.

Once again please stop looking at everyone's Viewpoint that doesn't agree with you as "hating" because I could sit here and tell you how much I like the PlayStation which you guys all know, that doesn't mean I agree with what they did with the Vita in fact I don't even own a Vita because of all the issues that Sony had in its pricing model, design etc.

If you know me to like PlayStation and I don't own a Vita and don't agree with its treatment how could you say I'm hating when I'm telling you I'm buying the actual product but I don't agree that it's going to have this amazing launch?

My point is simply based on what I am seeing currently it has no bearing on whether or not I like or hate the company because that has nothing to do with the fact that the top third-party Publishers have yet to State whether their top intellectual properties will even release on this product.

Mind you that's a fact, that is not based on anything subjective.

pinkcrocodile752741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

@_-EDMIX-_

"It did launch with Knack and it did launch with some remastered games it also launched with Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty game and an Assassin's Creed game. "

Knack wasn't that great and sold poorly Killzone was good though and the rest were 3rd party.

The point your man is making is that Ninty could launch with Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart and others meaning a stronger line up.

Based on that "Assumption" he's right and you're wrong

_-EDMIX-_2741d ago

@pink- Zelda has not been an intellectual property known to move mass units and if what I'm saying is simply based on the magnitude of sales technically speaking somebody could love Knack or Killzone and basically say PlayStation 4 have the best launch simply because they like that intellectual property a lot.

That's not actually what I'm saying, I'm simply saying by a measurement that is unbiased it is not going to have such a launch. The second you start bringing in whether or not you like a game or not to measure such a large everything becomes subjective there is no point to the comment being made. I could tell you PlayStation Vita had the best large simply because I really like Lumines...

What I stated with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched extremely well because they had a plethora of support by Third parties and a record number of independent titles unless the switch is going to be launching in a similar manner we cannot actually say that because they are the ones that even have issues with architecture and third parties in the first place and before anybody comments on if a launch is going to be successful or not we actually need to know 100% with a zero doubt that the architecture is something that could be profitable for third parties before we begin predicting how that launch is even going to be in regards to units sold.

I'm not entertaining an argument based on subjectivity.

C_Ali882741d ago (Edited 2741d ago )

@_-EDMIX-_

Thats exactly what you're arguing, subjectivity, The COD's, Battlefields are a subjective want. The fact that Wii U actually had a GREAT launch belies the fact that you are arguing your own subjectivity. It actually wasn't until after launch that the Wii U's momentum dropped off significantly. So a successful launch is not equal to maintaining and perpetuating its sales. Wii U had the COD's (BL ops 2) and Assassins creeds(3 @ launch), the 2k's and Fifa.

The difference being when EA got mad they cut ties and it quickly cascaded from there...

Just to put it in to perspective,

1) From the Wii U's launch till December 31, 2012, Nintendo reported that 3.06 million consoles and 11.69 million software units had been shipped worldwide..

2) On January 7, 2014, Andrew House announced in his Consumer Electronics Show keynote speech that 4.2 million PS4 units had been sold-through by the end of 2013,[143] with more than 9.7 million software units sold

3)On January 6, 2014, Microsoft announced that approximately 3 million consoles had been sold worldwide in 2013.[191] In their Q2 2014 earnings report on January 23, 2014, Microsoft announced that 3.9 million Xbox One units had been shipped worldwide.

So OBJECTIVELY they all had similar launches and all sold at about the same range. Ps4 clearly had the best launch but to say that somehow its an OBJECTIVE fact that the Wii U launch was poor shows your bias subjectivity in hindsight. It could be argued that Wii U's launch was better than Xone, yet somehow your opinion overrides that and you must then resort to pretending to argue fact... which you are not!

Also http://imgur.com/GwvnVI9 proves that these publishers have something in the works or you could just virtually list every dev possible as a publishing partner..... Which means these companies have deals in place with Nintendo FOR switch. You base your argument of assumptions then proceed to speak on facts. It is currently only YOUR assumption that NS won't be getting third party support when they've shown otherwise. They also showed a partner list for Wii U but you know it was significantly smaller and guess what? Those companies supported Wii U until they didn't find it viable anymore but each name on the list has at least a wii u game. Some at launch some later but they did show support.

https://apps.voxmedia.com/a...

So the only thing you can really argue is that support MAY drop if the console doesn't sell, but support is there for launch and beyond as of now.

_-EDMIX-_2740d ago

@C_A lol what?

No bud.

PS4 and XONE both outsold Wii U.

That is not subjective, that is fact.

"if we get Mario Kart at launch along with Skyrim and Zelda, and then Splatoon, this will go down as the greatest launch in console history"

wow!! not know if sarcastic. LOL

EddieNX 2741d ago

Yh because we all know how awful it would be to have portable Zelda, Mario kart and Splatoon on day 1. Oh no wait, they're all exceptional.

_-EDMIX-_2741d ago

@eddie- its not saying that it won't be interesting or cool its merely saying that those intellectual properties have not been known to shift massive units in the first place.

Seriously try not to take some of the comments in regards to the criticism as personal or as bashing I'm just simply saying what we've been known of these intellectual properties to sell and how they actually perform.

For their launch to be a knock out of the park I believe they're going to need to have relevant titles that are releasing at or around March. They're at least going to have to have the latest battlefield, latest Call of Duty previous Assassin's Creed and whatever the latest new independent games are releasing on the platform before we could start talking about an amazing launch, not really saying that the titles you mentioned are bad, it's simply saying it's not enough to really start comparing it to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One launch you could say whatever you want to say about Killzone or Knack at the end of the day it's one of the most successful launches in gaming and the PlayStation 4 right now is breaking record after record, it's not really saying if you believe the launch was good by your personal taste , it's merely saying that what they did in regards to having that support is what got them those sales, it's not a personal thing, were just talking about numbers here.

Red_Renegade2741d ago

not even close. who wants to play "basketball?"

XanderZane2740d ago

I do, but I don't even know what basketball game that was. I was hoping Nintendo was going to do a 4 pack Mario Sports game like the Mario Sports Superstars they are doing for the 3DS. We need that on the Nintendo Switch.

PhoenixUp2742d ago

You must be delusional if you think Nintendo is going to blow its entire load at launch. Not all those games shown in the trailer will be available day one

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

Eh maybe but maybe not. They only showed about 4 games when there's no doubt they are working on more. Nintendo needs to bring out the heavy hitters though for launch and Mario, Zelda, and Mario Kart would be perfect. Plus Mario is all but confirmed for launch of you've been following verified reports.

MrBrofist2741d ago

I doubt the new Mario will be a launch title. More like holiday release. Mario is their biggest franchise so it would make sense to release it then

Chevalier2741d ago

They also need a fall lineup too, so your suggestion that they pack their launch seems highly unlikely. If they do have the 3rd party support they would do well to lean on their partners to help them along. If only Nintendo properties sell at launch do you think their 3rd party partners would be happy to have their sales eaten into? Because it will be the Wii U all over again with dropped support.

2741d ago
PhoenixUp2742d ago

No they do not need to front load their launch like that. What they need to do is ensure that Switch has a consistent amount of games released each month after launch.

You are speaking pure hyperbole. They barely even showed off that Mario title and you think that suddenly it'll be a launch title? That just isn't logical thinking.

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

There are verified rumors of prominent launch posters of a Mario game. It's linked in the article. So no, that's not my basis. I've been hearing rumblings for weeks

PhoenixUp2742d ago

A rumor isn't a confirmation, and it isn't in Nintendo's nature to rush out a 3D Mario game on such short notice

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

Just because Nintendo hasn't shown us Mario for the Nintendo Switch doesn't mean it hasn't been in development for a long time. That's not rushing it out. Nintendo has had a thing for not showing games early (except for Zelda I guess with all of its delays)

PhoenixUp2742d ago

I'm not talking in terms of development, I'm talking in terms of the game being unveiled. There's never been a time that Nintendo shows off a 3D Mario game only for it to release in less than 5 months.

It'll more likely be a holiday title. There's no reason to front load the launch period that much, that's just bad business.

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

That doesn't mean it won't launch

PhoenixUp2741d ago

Yes it does mean that this 3D Mario title won't be a launch title. That's just common sense.

Chevalier2741d ago

" There are verified rumors of prominent launch posters of a Mario game"

Lol. It's not 'verified' if it's classified as a rumour. Because if it was verified it would be fact. Darklink28 is just assuming things. Guess what your opinion isn't factual.

moegooner882742d ago

Loool. Many games shown, including Skyrim haven't even been confirmed, so calm down kiddo.

guywazeldatatt2742d ago

Skyrim is coming, it wouldn't have been shown so prominently if it hadn't. It will be confirmed.

TheSuperiorGamer2742d ago

It most likely is but all Nintendo partners are being very mum right now and not commenting on any games they have in the works.

EddieNX 2741d ago

Darklink you seem to be getting loads of downvotes even though almost everything you have said is spot on :S

The fact that Bethesda is confirmed as a developer and Skyrim was prominently shown surely means its coming. Every developer, including Bethesda has been told to say ''We have nothing to anounce at this time''.

Huguinho2741d ago

@eddie Darklink vs the damage-control n4g-fanboys

nitus102741d ago

Skyrim remastered for the PS4 and XB1 has not been released yet.(release date is 28 Oct 2016) so I would be surprised that it would be available for the Nintendo Switch considering the console/tablet's release date is around 5 months away. It would be easier to take a video and make the tablet play it.

I'd buy Mario, Mario Kart, and Zelda at launch.. With a pro controller to go with it... Hopefully theres a deluxe bundle with the goodies

R00bot2740d ago (Edited 2740d ago )

I don't.
This is the most third party support Nintendo has had in ages, they've obviously moved a lot of Wii U games over to the NX (hence the droughts recently), we're getting updated ports (or perhaps sequels?) to the biggest Wii U games, this will be the first Nintendo console to get both their mobile games and their home games as well, so it'll be getting at least DOUBLE the first party output any other Nintendo console has had. All in all it looks to be the return of Nintendo, I just hope the battery life is okay, that 3 hours rumour is a bit unsettling although I'd still buy it.

CrimsonWing692740d ago

Glad you're optimistic. This isn't anything they haven't promised before with the Wii U. i'll tell you what let's come back to this post when the console launches. I'll be happy to say I was wrong.

R00bot2740d ago

Sounds good :)
I really think they'll at least have a great first party lineup, whether the 3rd parties stick around we'll have to wait and see.

sk8ofmnd2740d ago

Have you ever watched the launch for the wiiu and all the games that was promised by developers? You tube that shit. Because there were tons of devs saying games were comming and nwver did.

In the past yes but last gen amd has gotten cheaper and there new cards are on the horizon making 6k even cheaper.

The arc cards are no longer made by intel but asus/asrock has some the next line battlemage is coming out prices tbd.

Do to the longer software development its always best to go amd over intel if its not to much more money even though intel is a strong gpu i own 2/4 card versions.
