@Ginpachi-sama

Its Sony you ignorant thing. Not Bethesda.

madmonkey012766d ago

Well I'm not defending Sony here and blaming Bethesda completely buuuut all they have to do is prove to Sony the mods are secure and have enough security behind them.

Hell why not just allow the legit ones by bigger, more trusted modders.

freshslicepizza2767d ago

bethesda has said one of the reasons is to do with size restrictions. 900MB on the ps4 and 2GB on the xbox one. they also said sony has a problem with allowing users to do what they want, so much for sony being open.

http://arstechnica.com/gami...

arkard2766d ago

Bethesda also promised mod support already knowing about those complications. Sony is open as long as you meet the specifications. Why should Bethesda get whatever they want and all other devs have to follow Sony's specifications?

Princess_Pilfer2766d ago

WTF does that even mean? Sony is OK with selling inferior products compared to their direct competitor? Sorry, that's Sony having it's head up it's butt.

Bethesda shouldn't have promised it without knowing it was going to go through, but it's Sony that's blocking it.

@Foxtrot Part of modding is that you take responsibility for the integrity of your game and part of downloading anything is taking responsibility for the integrity of all the data on your system. If you aren't ok with that, don't mod your stuff. If Sony isn't ok with giving people that warning (in big obvious red letters before they download a mod if that's what it takes) and then letting them do whatever then I don't know how exactly they think they're going to compete with PCs.

andrewsquall2766d ago

Why is there a restriction on PS4? PS3 never had file size restrictions for content and neither has PS4. What way did they friggin build this mod support's foundation on? Crappy Xbox 360 rules? The 2gb limit is a dead giveaway.

Goldby2766d ago

@BG having requirments needed to be met isn't seen as being closed, its open to the idea, but certain conditions must be met.

Lets take vehicles owners (Sony) for example. you have a tuner garage that says they can install any turbo on any vehicle, problem is though they only carry mods 2x bigger than the motor allows on the vehicle. does that make the vehicle owner closed to the idea of turbos? no he is still open to the idea and getting a turbo, just needs one that fits his vehicle.

Lets have a look at it from the tuners side now. the installers (bethesda) say they can install a turbo in your vehicle. problem there is that not only is it 2 times as big, but also the pressure could blow gaskets. is it the owners fault for not modifying his front end to accomidate the tubo, the the installers duty to find a turbo that fits and works for it?

Hint its the latter.

freshslicepizza2766d ago

@Goldby
"having requirments needed to be met isn't seen as being closed, its open to the idea, but certain conditions must be met. "

it is being closed, just like they won't allow cross play with competing platforms or allow competing services like ea access. sony has the right to green light what they want. the proof will be in the pudding, if mods work on the xbox one and consumers like that option then what is the problem?

Goldby2766d ago

@Moldy

Whats the problem? The PS4 isn't set up like a windows pc or Xbox. thast the problem. what you are implying is like an Apple only product stating it can work on pc and becuase Apple is too busy not converting it to work on PC and says its windows problem that it isn't working.

It's not a simple drag and drop for mod support the way Sony wants to to be dont. if Bethesda doesn't want to do the way their platform dictates it, than they are being childish blaming sony for somethign they should be doing.

If you require a service and it isn't possible under normal circumstances, is that your fault or the person you hired for the service? the service providers.

its not that hard Moldy. you offer a service, you go through with that service, not blame someone else for your wrong doings.

LordMaim2766d ago

@Moldybread: Cross platform play? This again? Microsoft didn't want it when the 360 was more popular than the PS3, it shouldn't be surprising that Sony doesn't want it now. It doesn't make sense to remove an incentive to switch consoles to play with your friends. http://kotaku.com/5813740/i...

EA Access? Again? Its a terrible service on the Xbox One.
http://n4g.com/comments/red...

Neither of which has anything to do with mods. Bethesda claims that Sony won't allow mods to be implemented "like they should be", which is a pointed statement. That says that Sony would allow them, but Bethesda wants to do it their own way rather than under the guidelines that Sony requires. Let's be frank, mods on the Xbox One aren't exactly flawless. Given the restrictions of a console, I'm surprised they tried them at all. For all we know about the situation it could have been quality control, content moderation to prevent inappropriate or pornographic material, or even a security concern that tripped up Bethesda. All that we do know is that Bethesda had a different interpretation about how mods "should be" implemented.

"Minecraft Realms Will Support Cross Platform Play Between PS4, Xbox One, and Mobile"
Seems like they're open to it to me.

Sony and security? Are you serious? It took them how long to get 2FA?

madmonkey012766d ago

2FA is completely useless,

MetalGearsofWar2767d ago

Sony will not simply allow mods on the PS4.

DarkZane2767d ago (Edited 2767d ago )

No, the problem is that they wanted some regulation on the mod, but Bethesda just want the mod system to have no regulation and allow everything.

I don't see the points of mods on console. The only mods that are worth it are the graphic/texture mods and those would only be possible on PC.

Nitrowolf22767d ago (Edited 2767d ago )

You think gfx mods are the only ones worth it?

While most people opt for those, many others go with mods that can add more to the story and gameplay

a lot of the best mods on Fallout 4 are fan-made quest lines

sullynathan2767d ago

Mods extend the life of a game and allow for free content that can change the game in numerous ways. That's the point. They don't hurt your experience but can help it.

MetalGearsofWar2767d ago

Microsoft seems to doing fine with mods.

opinionated2767d ago

Mods and the community regulate themselves, they are mods lol... Regulated modding is called game development.

kstuffs2766d ago

So Sony is *not* for the players? Let's see: No BC, No EA Access, No Mods, No UHD BR.

C4rnos2766d ago

The mods are pretty highly regulated last i checked- there's a reason PC users mainly use Nexusmods,

As has been stated, there are plenty of things mods improve other than gfx, quest related, fix related, content related, convenience, even small additions that can have a huge effect on the game.. No one remembers Skyrim without SkyUI?.

farming simulator 17
next month
MODS CONFIRMED

now, dont you feel stupid

2766d ago
MatrixxGT2766d ago

Is that the best y'all can come back with? Farming Simulator? Really. Have fun with the broke back mountain mod.

xDealtwithIt2767d ago

Well actually Sony allowed mods for the highly anticipated Farming Simulator 2017! I hope it's in native 4k for the Pro!

SlyFoxC2766d ago

Get your facts straight @MetalGearsofWar

- Farming Simulator 2017 releases this October. It already confirmed DAY 1 mods on PS4.
- Dont give me the "That game doesn't have real mods". A mod is a mod and this game has them day 1 on ps4.

PS4 DOES ALLOW MODS.

brianunfried2766d ago

Unreal Tournament III on PS3 had mods.

gigoran2767d ago

everybody hated on sony for weeks, but they then relasized that other games on ps4 were still gonna have mods. so yeah... F bethesda.

xDealtwithIt2767d ago

Yea, all hail Farming Simulator, whooo boy I know groups of gamers camping out in the streets ready for that game to drop. Thanks Sony, you really are for the gamers!

Caedus5112767d ago

I can't wait to MOD the sh*t outta Farming Simulator. My corn is gonna grow so fast with the Uber Fertilizer mod, just you wait and see!

Oh, and I'm looking forward to unlocking another 10hp on my tractor with the announced Gran Turismo Sport mod for Farming Simulator. At least now I'll get a racing game for PS4 this year! Thanks Sony for the awesome MODS!!!

Ashlen2766d ago (Edited 2766d ago )

@Caedus511 @xDealtwithIt

So when it's pointed out that PS4 does in fact support mods the answer is just to say "that game sucks"? I mean the fact remains that it's not Sony but Bethesda that stopped the process.

xDealtwithIt2766d ago

"I mean the fact remains that it's not Sony but Bethesda that stopped the process."

How is this a fact? Sony stopped the mods for Fallout not Bethesda and that is the only fact that remains.

And let me see, which game was more highly anticipated for mod support, more played and just all around more popular, Fallout 4 or Farming Simulator? The answer is also another remaining fact.

C4rnos2766d ago

people really need to find out *why* Bethesda's mods are unavailable on PS4, as has been previously stated; there is a size limit for mods (900mb) most games are unlikely to use that kind of space on a single mod (especially Farming sim 2017) whereas a good chunk of the best mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4 are larger than that- why would sony purposely admit their failing in providing adequate "accommodation" on their platform rather than simply blame Bethesda for "regulations" without stating *Why* they are against it?.

Look into the statements, investigative reasoning is all you need.

There are alternatives for PS4 Fallout 4 mods, you can buy an Xbox One or PC.

Two better alternatives right there!

:D

hirobrotagonist2767d ago

Well...one better alternative at least. PC

Condemnedman2766d ago

and the xbox as you can't do it on ps4 😆

moegooner882766d ago (Edited 2766d ago )

Thanks but I actually buy consoles which has real exclusives.

Microsoft Seemingly Closes Bethesda France

As part of its plans to cut 1,900 jobs, Microsoft has reportedly shut down operations at Bethesda France, letting go roughly 15 people

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

PassNextquestion9m ago(Edited 7m ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

Profchaos8m ago(Edited 7m ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H918h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog38m ago(Edited 35m ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg1h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder
