Wow, that is going to piss off a few people.

thekhurg2792d ago

This is the prime reason why no indie game should ever cost $60. Hello Games screwed over a ton of gamers with their false advertising prior to launch. And because of stingy refund policies, many people were denied refunds on this broken mess.

Mr Pumblechook2792d ago

The hate is strong in this one.

Kingthrash3602792d ago

I didn't buy this game....not because of all the stuff going on but because it's not my style game.
That's said tho....I stood by its price, I backed it up because I believe that the more content put in a game should reflect the price.
But seeing how the lies have come to light. And how there are no apologies and stuff like the names getting erased.....yeah I hope they fail. They deserve all the flack they are getting. I dislike liers.

MatrixxGT2792d ago

I thought this game was supposed to the next best thing...

MagicBeanz2792d ago

You're getting "flop" confused with hate campaign.

This article is actually wrong. The guy that had the issue updated his post on reddit. It's not true. https://www.reddit.com/r/No...

Deadpooled2792d ago

I defended this game before release like KingThrash aswell, defending it as something "new", but seeing how this has turned out I am glad I held back on the purchase.

Pretty sure this is a bug that is related to people uploading discoveries when the game clearly says that there is no server connection (in the first week this connections went in and out constantly due to overload). In fairness the game SHOULD prevent you from uploading in that situation, but it doesn't...maybe because they assume you still want the money credits that come with it. Make sure to check the server connection message before uploading.

But otherwise, everything works fine for me. I've found one system discovered by someone else and I couldn't change things. I've put in 40+ hours already so I can't really complain too much about the price. I'm enjoying it. It's a good relaxing stress-relief game. Though I can understand why some think it should have been less.

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2792d ago (Edited 2792d ago )

I have and am still enjoying this game. I come on here to check the bad news about it but it never translates to the enjoyment I get while playing.

The major gripe I can agree with however is that it's a grind fest so if that isn't your thing then yeah.. I wouldn't recommend it.

The multiplayer gripe never bothered me much. I think it would be cool if they did have but I still don't feel it's necessary and without it in many ways gives the game it's own feel. They should clear up the message on what type of multiplayer it is. I work in the I.T field in the games industry on networks and servers everyday and from what I have read.. The multiplayer they are using is similar to Destiny with very small sessions per server of about 200 people. Like in Destiny you and your friend can both be in the tower and not see each other which is the same as no mans sky, Since their is no feature to group so you both end up in the same instance.. then you won't see each other which stemmed all the hate from twitch when those to people couldn't see each other. Even if you find a planet of someone else's and they are playing as well, if they log off and back on they might be in a different instance. This is all they really have to say to the media but even then I feel people wouldn't listen as the message is already out they lied which isn't exactly true.

Definitely think they dropped the ball for the PC crowd in a way.. but reports state that less than 1% of the total people who bought the game on PC had issues so i'm torn in both directions on that one. Clearly SLI was an issue.. Poor Master Racers.

I know this isn't the popular opinion on this site and will get down voted and i'm okay with that.. I am glad I bought it as I find it fun to roam around and see all the planets and at the end of the day do I want other peoples opinion to ruin my fun and leisure time.. nah.. not really. If they don't like it.. that's fine.. don't buy it. I'm still going to enjoy it though.

phoenixwing2792d ago

I'm glad you're getting enjoyment out of it and that at least you found it to be a good purchase. Yes, the people on here love to hate on it but only for real things it's missing. However, since you're enjoying it I wouldn't be concerned either.

Dunban672792d ago

for all the people who are easily entertained, have tons of free time on their hands, have $60 they just have to get rid of, and want to encourage/reward more lying from devs and publishers this game is for you!

I hear Sean Murray and Keji Inefune (Mighty Number 9 dev) are going to co develop a new game soon- The working title is "Mighty Big Lie"

COMMENT-OF-THE-YEAR2792d ago

@Dunban67 As long as their entertained that's a good thing no? Like isn't fun why we play games in the first place? If that brings them fun are they wrong to spend 60 dollars on it? I don't think he lied as much as didn't explain what type of multiplayer the game contains. but either way they stated don't go into the game thinking multiplayer.. like what do you want when a publisher says that.. Multiplayer? That's not their vision.

Inefune is also producing recore is he not? Meh, it doesn't matter. If you want games to fail and do bad then be my guest. Their are people attached to those studios who work day in and day out to build a vision and then their are people like you who are their to destroy that vision. I can understand not liking something.. but to the extent you are taking it.. seems kinda childish.

XanderZane2792d ago

Is anyone really surprised about this? I'm not. Hello Games already have their millions now. Maybe they will hire a bigger staff so they can actually finish making their game. Right now it's still in beta.

Lon3wolf2792d ago

It's been proven not true by the person who highlighted the issue, there was an issue with his ga,e/server info he had to re-download game and it was all ok.

Lamboomington2792d ago

The guys discoveries came back after a while. Can we please not be too hasty to bash the game every time ? False information spreads that way.

Yep, and if someone also happens to visit a planet you discovered they can rename everything.

@below

Unless it's been fixed in a patch, there was a decently big reddit post about it near launch. I think I have it mixed up, I think the name remakes th3 same, but it changes the dicoverer

Gambit_the_White2792d ago

I found a solar system that was discovered by someone else, and I couldn't rename or change anything.

oONinjavitiSOo2792d ago

One of the nice things about NMS is it's really showing (especially on on N4G) who has played it and who hasn't. I personally have over 80 hrs in the game and definitely agree with a lot of complaints from people who actually played the game. But most of the boo hoo cry babies on here making ridiculous claims clearly haven't played it and it is pretty hilarious. I have a endless amount of tissues for you all. Also this specific game is really showing how toxic of a community N4G has become. At least when I became a member in Aug 2012 it was pretty much just console war garbage but now it's become an outlet for people to just hate everything and try hards trying to make people feel bad for liking things they like. After 30 years of gaming I'm starting to become embarrassed to call myself or be called a "gamer".

P.s. Article is incorrect. If you uploaded your discoveries while Online is up people can't rename anything that you have uploaded. If you don't upload stuff anyone can name. Pretty simple stuff people. Again this comment section is really showing who is pretending to have played and who are actually playing.

Kleptic2792d ago (Edited 2792d ago )

^But wait...Shouldn't the embarrassing part of being called a 'gamer' be the purchase justification that runs rampant on the other side of the fence?

Purchasers keep throwing their hands in the air about how 'we' haven't played it, so can't complain, or don't fully understand exactly what HG lied about...while the non-purchasers continue to heave 'glad I didn't buy it' stuff around...

Not saying either is worse than the other...but none of it puts the real issue in context...The game is missing things the devs said would be in it...multiple mechanics the dev discussed in multiple unrelated interviews are either not working correctly, are intentionally not in the game, or some bizarre middle ground in between....

You say you're embarrassed to be called a gamer?...I am too, but from a different direction; that this kind of stuff still results in millions of sales...NMS, week over week, lost player numbers like nothing i've ever witnessed....those are purchasers giving up...those are 'your side' declaring things aren't right...If it's just us sitting around with nothing better to do and fanning flames... why are like 80% of the original buyers seemingly done with the game?

I mean in a modern era where typically a new release is plagued with bugs/crashes...we're discussing a game plagued with bugs/crashes...that is also missing very large amounts of content/mechanics that the devs clearly explained over the past several years...and still have buyers defending it tooth and nail...

Not sure what to make of all this. I was very interested in the PC version...a close friend who was more interested bought it on day 1...and gave a firm 'no' before it became trendy to hate on it...You liking it is fine, you finding value in what you purchased is fine...but others saying it's a big mess because of the hundreds of articles about why it's a mess...does not make anything toxic...just means your opinion is clearly not as popular as general consensus right now.

CannonB82792d ago

@Kleptic - No, the embarrassing part of being a gamer just now is all the hate and anger aimed at a developer by people who have never played the game. They have no dog in this fight. If you decided the game isn't for you or you're unhappy about the content the developer supposedly promised and never delivered, just move on. and let the rest of us, those who actually bought the game, discuss the game and whether we like it or not.

There are far too many keyboard analysts on the internet just now who seem to think they have some kind of right to shoot everything down and troll everyone, all from the safety of their keyboards. And it's that kind of aggressive anonymity that is hurting the community and will, unfortunately, drive developers away.

You go on about purchase justification, but we shouldn't have to justify our purchase. We saw a game that we liked the look of and we used our money to buy it. If you didn't buy the game, what right have you to interject yourself into a discussion about the content included in the game?

The above article was debunked about an hour after the Redditor posted it and it was diagnosed as a server bug where your progress was only uploaded if the server was online, but nobody seems to care about that. It's an issue which has been resolved and scores of (happy) game owners have reported that their progress in the game is still there. And yet N4G and the rest of the community seem to be glossing over that fact.

Stop bashing on a game you don't own and go and bother people about a game you do own. The rest of us who bought and are loving the game will continue playing it.

dumahim2792d ago

That's probably due to being disconnected from the server most of the time. I noticed it at one point too. I had a really good fitting name for a planet, and about an hour later I saw it was renamed. Eventually I noticed most of the time when I'm uploading data, there's a red circle at the bottom showing I'm not connected to the server. I think it was down more than it was up.

vallencer2792d ago

I'm pretty sure that's if you don't upload the discovery. You can discover it but if you don't upload your discovery it doesn't stick.

frostypants2792d ago

I'm going to laugh my arse off if there are people that haven't figured that part out...

oONinjavitiSOo2792d ago

@frostypants it's because most of these people that are hating haven't even played the game haha.

frostypants2792d ago

It's a bug. You usually cannot do that.

FROM REDDIT:

" HUGE EDIT KINDA FIXED MY ISSUE: Ok so after reading some of the comments I played around in the game a bit, I re-downloaded and reloaded the game for about two hours. I don't know what happened but all the discoveries re-appeared on my starting planet. https://pbs.twimg.com/media... sorry for phone pic. I hope new news sites see this...It seems like a server bugs like it takes a while for your old discoveries to re download. Please spread the word and if you are having this problem just wait and see if your discoveries will return. It seems a little bugged where as you get further and further away from your starting point you can't see your old discoveries even when you find your way back. It's like the server lags behind big time and takes a while to find the old information.
Edit: Thanks for the gold!!! Never got gilded before! Please keep commenting and replying!
Edit: I'm on PS4, warped 92 times, went through many black holes, and Played on the day of release with day 1 patch.
Edit: Deleted news links but thanks for everyone who linked me them, just can't read them or the comments on them..
Edit: Got into contact with the article writer for PC Gaming Andy Chalk and he is updating the article hope others will follow.. He updated his article you can search for it on google if you want. "Thanks Andy!" Also if you guys can pls spread the word on other sub reddits that I updated this post..pls

Well the article does say that solar systems and planet names were saved, it was the plants and animals that were wiped:

"So none of my named animals plants were ever saved. The system name and planet names were saved but everything elts was wiped".

-I wouldn't know as I haven't played it but if true that's really dumb for a game that wants you to discover new life and show off your discovery by giving it a name, yet its only temporary. I don't think it's a case of not being connected either, since the planet and solar systems still had their names. -Again I don't know though, just pointing out what the article said.

gbsrnctaln2792d ago

It was animals and plants as well. Like a lot of people have said, this guy was probably not connected to the survers to perform proper saves.

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos32d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts32d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook731d ago (Edited 31d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing32d ago (Edited 32d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka31d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka32d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

NotoriousWhiz32d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos31d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1732d ago
