But it's confident Titanfall 2 will outperform its predecessor.

Just being conservative, after all, Titanfall 2 comes out right after.

scottypops2800d ago

Seems like poor planning tbh

burza19822800d ago

I played Titanfall 2 BETA just for 30min, close application and said....."never again".

DARK_WOLF2800d ago (Edited 2800d ago )

Man i agree. Titanfall 1 was sooooo much better. The second one they changed so much it sorta doesnt even feel like titanfall anymore.

I read they are listening and making drastic changes to make it more like the first one so thats good.

InTheZoneAC2800d ago

-controls are very smooth and responsive
-no lag
-no ridiculous hand holding aim assist found in every CoD

what's not to like?

sullynathan2799d ago

@InthezoneAC wait there's no aim assist? so you're telling me the gun play is that easy and casual? smh

meche3342799d ago

its a pre-alpha not beta. big difference

zidane13412799d ago

Lmao @ saying never again after 30 minutes. Smh big baby

DeadlyOreo2799d ago

The "pre-alpha test" was actually decent. I enjoyed the hell out of it and I can't wait for it to be back this weekend.

There is talk about Tf2 maybe being delayed.

kraenk122800d ago

They should, guten the fact everyone hated the Beta.

zidane13412799d ago

@kraenk: I enjoyed it. Most of my buddies did too. People just want to act like they don't know what a beta is. They already stated they fixed everybody's problems with it in the second beta this weekend.

DeeBeers2799d ago

I was worried for a second it was going to be something serious. But... sales. I can live with that!

IamTylerDurden12799d ago

Way off, BF1 will sell 15m copies minimum and it WILL outsell TF2. Titanfall will sell what they are predicting BF1 to sell and BF1 will do typical BF numbers if not better.

I predict BF1 sells 17m

TF2 11m

Metacritic will play a big role, but ppl are down on Titanfall and high on BF1 atm.

Battlefield will never "kill" COD.

badz1492800d ago

The truth has been spoken

TheSaint2800d ago

The sad truth, that CoD is far more mainstream and popular with the kids.

WellyUK2799d ago

christ people BF is just as main stream it's just got longer games and isn't quite as accessible both are casual shooters.

FunkyBoy2800d ago

Why do people want games to die off? They can and do exist at the same time. Alot of people enjoy cod and that doesn't make me mad

Kleptic2800d ago (Edited 2800d ago )

right? Overall the industry loves throwing around that consumers are the 'problem'...but ironically that assessment generally stems from the media...and, at the same time, the media pushes out shat like this...

what consumer 'hopes' BF1 is a CoD killer?...consumers have agreed for over a decade that they're very different franchises. Many players buy both...and play both...as they're...NOT the same, and more than anything only compete with each other in overall popularity...less in direct mechanics/gameplay.

I was ok with CoD, but loved 1942 the year before. I loved Cod 2, and BF2...I loved Cod 4...thought BC1 was kind of bad...I loved BC2, and BF3...thought BF4 was going places but my hatred for EA approached critical mass around release...hard line was a BF4 mod #theend...but the same applied to CoD for me since modern warfare, as MW2 was different, but I wouldn't say better as it had FAR higher balance problems...and everything after was weaker to me personally. Never got into any blops, ghosts was trash, and AW was better than ghosts but still just trying to be titanfall without titans...

Anyway, all i mean is both franchises are ripe for improvement...both are insanely popular, but I still think they're popular because of last gen stuff then anything recent....neither have set the industry on fire in a long time...they've only garnered new teenagers...fix that, please...

If BF1 is good, and not on fire at release...I'll buy it...if IW is good, i'll buy it (like it or not, CoD never has the launch problems EA/Dice does with BF, and that is someone predominantly BF centric recently)...

nitus102800d ago

Unfortunately when I see the letters "EA" alarm bells start ringing.

DeadlyOreo2799d ago

Great comment. It's because where gaming has become so mainstream there are a lot of people out there who aren't "real" gamers, in the sense that they're not dedicated to gaming.

So they have this mentality that they only like the standard games that they purchase and everything else sucks basically. Mix that with the internet being a great outlet for their hate, and games like cod being so popular.

I'll buy whatever looks appealing to me, regardless of name.

Nibbs2800d ago

Agreed. We need to straight up kill this *annoying screeching voice* OMGAWD X-GAME IS GONNA DESTROOOY X-GAME obsession.

Both belong in their own worlds, and no massive franchised game will ever "die" because both fan bases are MASSIVE and marketing.

Goldby2799d ago

the xgames are back.... sweet. what city they in this year?

Kabaneri2800d ago

It doesnt need to COD seems determined to kill itself.

jasonpugh2800d ago

First of all these two games need to quit being compared to one another when they are so different. Second, COD is in dire need of an overhaul. I lost interest long ago. Just my opinion.

fitfox2800d ago

you're correct, Activision will.

Deadpooled2800d ago (Edited 2800d ago )

As much as I want to disagree, I can't help but agree with it. It's been true for years, and will very likely be true again this year. Millions of people love the CoD gameplay and format, and they likely will buy it again this year.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2799d ago

Probably never will, but the player base grows after every battlefield game is released. BF is a much "Harder" game than COD also. My roommate has BLOPS 3 and I picked it up and went 18-7 the first game on team deathmatch and I didnt even know the map (had redwoods and forest style with 3 paths) and I have not actively played COD since Black Ops. BF4 is easily the Hardest of the games that I have played in the series (Bad Company 2, BF3 and BF4). BF1 looks a little easier from the gameplay so far so Im excited about that!

sackboyhappy2799d ago

just like how dark souls will never beat uncharted, they're two different types of games

you shouldn't compare cod to BF because they're both 1st person shooters just like you shouldn't compare uncharted with dark souls because they're both 3rd person shooters

slate912800d ago

Battlefield will never kill CoD but it will survive longer than CoD.

TheUndertaker852800d ago

... Are you being serious? EA is more prone to killing underperforming games.

_-EDMIX-_2800d ago

How is BF under performing?

ShinMaster2800d ago

Battlefield has been selling 15 mil on average, whether you care for the game or not, is a pretty beastly number.

TheUndertaker852800d ago

*Looks at title along with this very same article*

EA has touted Battlefield to be a CoD killer for awhile now and at every turn has fallen flat. In this same article it's outlined that this one will fall short of previous entries.

So, is that a success? Is that not underperforming based on the same previous entries?

objdadon2799d ago

Why would you say that? The last cod i liked was black ops 2 but having said that, cod is still the best selling fps month after month , year after year. Survive longer???

slate912799d ago

Slow and steady wins the race.

DialgaMarine2800d ago

No matter what kind of press either game receives, CoD will always destroy Battlefield in sales, even in this case. IW is going to sell at least 11 million on PS4, alone. CoD is literally the Madden of FPS titles. The only thing that could kill it is the developer and publisher flat out deciding to stop making them.

Skate-AK2800d ago

"CoD is literally the Madden of FPS titles."

Besides the fact that another dev couldn't make a NFL game if they wanted too. Madden does what it does because there are literally no other choice when it comes to NFL.

I agree IW will go over to 11m, just having MW1 Remastered included is really going to drive those sales up. I think it could even beat BO3 numbers. BO3 sold just under 14m, AW sold about 7.5m and Ghosts sold about 3.5m. These are all PS4 numbers and taken from VGchartz, take that for what it is worth.

DialgaMarine2799d ago

I can't lie; I'm somewhat skeptical about the game selling as many copies as Black Ops 3 on PS4, based on preorder numbers. I guess with no other FPS to compete, besides BF1, it could do even better, but we'll see in November for sure.

DefenderOfDoom22799d ago

I would have said COD is the 'FIFA' of FPS's. FIFA outsells any other soccer and sports games, every year .

Microsoft Seemingly Closes Bethesda France

As part of its plans to cut 1,900 jobs, Microsoft has reportedly shut down operations at Bethesda France, letting go roughly 15 people

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

GamerRN10h ago

If they are let go, they can be whatever they want. They ARE 3rd party now... 🤦

Barlos7h ago

Yeah, they're also jobless.

GamerRN30m ago

They can form a company if they want, they are just as jobless as if "Microsoft had left them as 3rd party".

peppeaccardo2h ago

"MIcrosoft leaves Bethesda do what they know how to do best" ... close! Oh the irony ....
(Citation from a week old article)

PassNextquestion12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

blacktiger10h ago

that's a shame for you to say that, i'm sure Elite loves hearing what you just said.

Profchaos12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto11h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos11h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Yi-Long8h ago

Well, if your consoles and games are barely found in any stores any more, of course you're gonna struggle finding consumers ...

XiNatsuDragnel10h ago

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Profchaos9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I think it would have been better for all parties really especially gamers

TheColbertinator10h ago

The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.

I’m Glad Atlus & SE Changed Dates To Avoid Competing With Shadow Of The Erdtree

Saad from eXputer: "I'm glad I don't have to choose between Square Enix, Atlus, and FromSoftware due to bad release windows and Shadow of the Erdtree."

H91d 6h ago

More intelligent than guerilla games

raWfodog12h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Atlus is releasing their game one week before Erdtree, SE is releasing theirs one week after.

HZD released four days before Zelda, HFW released one week before Elden Ring.

It seems to me like they are still releasing their games too close to Erdtree.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg13h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos12h ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

PassNextquestion11h ago(Edited 11h ago)

I think if used correctly it could work well

jambola8h ago

cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
