I Got To Try The PSVR - Here’s What Happened

hd8bit: After well over a year of waiting, we have finally been given a launch date. On October 13th, 2016, we will be playing with our new PSVR headsets! I am super excited, so you can imagine how I felt when I found out I was going to get to try it out before that! Sony announced at E3 that they would be traveling around the country (and world), giving fans a chance to try out this greatly anticipated hardware. After looking online, I found that the truck would not be coming to my city, but the local PlayStation Rep would be demoing the headset at a local Best Buy! Turns out, he will be at the Best Buy the last weekend in June and every Friday and Saturday in July! The first demo was starting at 1:00 on Friday, so naturally, I took a lunch break and was in line by 1:10. I was handed two laminated pieces of paper. A menu of sorts. The first explained that some people may get sick in VR and that if I was one of them I could raise my left hand at any time and they would remove the headset. The second listed five “experiences” to choose from. I knew immediately the one I wanted to try… After talking to some cool people in line-it was finally my turn!

lol, "PS$!"

Rimeskeem2855d ago

Omg, relax people, it was a simple typo in the article that I laughed about and should be fixed now. I'm no Xbox fanboy.

sAVAge_bEaST2855d ago

It will be in all major cities, starting Tomorrow.

HD8bit2855d ago

Yes, its fixed.Thank you for pointing it out!

UltraNova2854d ago

Thanks for posting your experience, keep it up.

May I ask how did you find the performance? Particularly, rez, fps and screen door effect?

Thanks!

HD8bit2854d ago

It was great! I'm going to go back tomorrow to check out some of the other experiences, but was amazing! The graphics aren't like the new Uncharted or anything, but they were really good and in 3d. The fps was solid and never bogged down, when i looked around it all stayed with me. The whole experience felt really natural. Even playing w the dual shock was fine. I think that I've just played enough games using controllers that it felt natural to control everything w it.

UltraNova2854d ago

That was a quick response, thanks!

I need all the feedback i can get since we will not get a chance to try one out where I live...

Looking forward to your next demo!

Deathdeliverer2855d ago

I'd love to try it but I doubt I'll feel like driving to any of the locations they have for me. Living in one of the biggest cities in the US I really thought there'd be more locations.

ITPython2855d ago

Yeah, nothing for me within 50 miles. Oh well I got in the second batch of preorders with amazon, and I'm sure I'll love psvr.

parentoftheyear2855d ago

I drove 40 minutes, stood in line for 2 hours on my anniversary, love my wife. It was amazing played eve. Wife played deep sea experience. It was a blast. Preordered 1st round from bb. Pretty excited.

UltimateMaster2855d ago

I would have to try it before I buy it myself.
I hope it becomes available to more retailers.

Fullmetalevolust2855d ago

I wanna go to a kiosk and try it

HD8bit2855d ago

You should! It's an experience! If you scroll down to the bottom of the article you can see where the closest demo is taking place. Enjoy!

uth112855d ago

I tried Battlezone last week. I want to go back and try some of the others

Psychotica2855d ago

If you haven't tried VR yet, you will definitely love it. I just bought a Vive for my PC and it's awesome but the lack of AAA titles is a drawback. I also have a PS4 and will definitely be considering the PSVR next Spring after I hear some feedback from gamers.

ILostMyMind2855d ago

You had two dislikes for wanting a PS-VR

babadivad2855d ago

That's N4G for oy. I got disagrees for saying I was sad Halo Wars 2 beta was over because I was just starting to get the hang of it.

What is there to disagree about?

Utalkin2me2854d ago

Why do you guys hang your hats on disagree's? It doesn't matter and doesn't affect anything.

Scatpants2855d ago

I just got an Oculus a couple weeks ago and it is amazing. It really adds so much to the experience. I almost don't want to even play flat games anymore. Can't wait to see what they do in the future with VR, the possibilities are endless.

HD8bit2855d ago

Lol, i get you man! When I went home that night I couldnt stop thinking about Eve! I just kept switching games, not able to stick to one game. I kept making jokes to my friends about how all my time not spent in VR was a waste of time. lol

Psychotica2854d ago

I was thinking the same thing. Non VR games are less interesting now.

sony has the devs to make games.

Microsoft should have left them stay 3rd party

GamerRN6h ago

If they are let go, they can be whatever they want. They ARE 3rd party now... 🤦

Barlos4h ago

Yeah, they're also jobless.

PassNextquestion8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much

Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region

blacktiger6h ago

that's a shame for you to say that, i'm sure Elite loves hearing what you just said.

Profchaos8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto8h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.

Profchaos8h ago

Possibly guven all the leaks we know the Xbox brand is really struggling in the region.

Yi-Long5h ago

Well, if your consoles and games are barely found in any stores any more, of course you're gonna struggle finding consumers ...

XiNatsuDragnel7h ago

Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo

Profchaos5h ago(Edited 5h ago)

I think it would have been better for all parties really especially gamers

TheColbertinator6h ago

The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.

Sony Could Increase Your Game's Difficulty If It Sees You Complain About It

Sony has recently published a new patent that wants to dynamically handle the games' difficulty and gameplay based on the player's emotions.

jznrpg10h ago

This is something I might use. Sometimes I play some good games but they don’t have difficulty option and are a little too easy.

Profchaos9h ago

Souls games will be like that players struggling make it harder

PassNextquestion8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

I think if used correctly it could work well

jambola4h ago

cool idea
cool idea for horror games especially
the way it's explained here sounds like it could never be forced hopefully, so that's ok with me
