PocketNow: So, on the original Star Trek series, landing parties exploring alien worlds often carried the "Phaser II," which was essentially just a more-powerful cradle for the diminutive "Phaser I" which plugged into it. Star Trek Enterprise did something similar with their portable universal translator. Since no one watched Enterprise, I'll fill you in: a handheld communicator latched into the top of another device, serving as the "ears" of the translator's processing unit.
Maati.tv: Asus has just announced the Padfone Infinity and Fonepad tablet. Both these products will be available in Spring this year.
Lennard Seah writes for VR-Zone.com, "While the original Padfone convertible hybrid concept didn't exactly light up the smartphone world when it officially debuted at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, ASUS quietly went back to the drawing board and came with up with a much improved offering that has the credentials to challenge the established big boys out there."
Engadget - We've been regularly poking the "Check Update" button on our PadFone since the release of our epic review, and just as promised, today ASUS has finally delivered the hybrid device's first OTA update. While the release notes have yet to pop up, we can see that the system firmware on our Taiwanese model's been upgraded to IML74K.CHT_PadFone-9.18.8.41_C HT_9.1.15-0, which has eliminated some of the bugs that we had reported to ASUS.
