In my opinion all smartphone needs is good battery backup

Sometimes they are of use but most of the time these features are useless , i mean to say these features are sparingly used . Better have them then not .

on data My theory is if you use 10% or more of your battery in 5-10 mins you are using a ton of data.

1080p isn't really needed, but its nice if you plan on playing a video on something other than your phone. As far as the data plans, I disagree. Some people need large plans for work or just how they use their phone. Sure, some get suckered into buying more than they need but they arent a total waste.
