No Pulse: How Doctors Reinvented The Human Heart

Dan Baum of PopSci:

"This 10,000-rpm, no-pulse artificial heart doesn't resemble an organic heart--and might be all the better for it.

As many as five million Americans suffer some form of heart failure, but only about 2,000 hearts a year become available for transplant. The obvious solution to that scarcity is to build an artificial heart, and how hard could that be?"

Finally doctors have come up with a functional artificial heart.

The story is too old to be commented.

With the amount of heart disease related problems growing in our modern society something like this is truly needed. Sure, it might be the person's fault for bad diet/exercise in some cases but if they get this done right it could save millions of lives.....

....and make the inventors a fortune.
