How To Get Rid Of Facebook Timeline

NRM writes "So Timeline has been rather polarizing in terms of thoughts and opinions about it's design and functionality. Some accepting this complete renovation with open arms, warming positively to the 'scrapbooking' mentality of the implementation, whereas others detest this idea of yet further effort and attempts at expansion beyond the primary (and for most solitary) uses of sharing and communicating..." (Facebook, Web)

But you would be disabling a number of the ajaxlike features as well. Am I right?

I must be one of the few who actually like timeline. I think it's a nice upgrade.

Timeline Sucks!, it looks like friendster.com

I like the changes Timeline made. I like how to makes someone's page more about them in an overall sense than how it was before where it was only recent stuff. Plus I was able to easily bundle together the various trips I have taken and my family can easily look through them.

Finally, a way to get rid of this annoyance

I really don't see why people don't like timeline. Really a nice update if you ask me.

I agree. The problem is no-one seems to like change but I think this has been the best and most straight forward update from Facebook. I am not sure people like the idea that facebook tracks your life and its the ultimate stalker tool but Facebook has always been like that but now it has a more straight forward format

I like it. It looks really good: a proper design-centric upgrade over what was there before, something in Facebook that actually looks pretty decent.

But I can see the other point this writer and other people are making: how it convolutes the actual point of social networking, and tries to morph it into this idea of creating a digital scrapbook. I just don't see that idea working to the benefit of me.

For example, for how much I like it in terms of looks, I barely use any of the functionality (life events, map location tracking, etc etc).

If I used FaceBook for something other than filler maybe I would have a better opinion, but I dont put any personal info there anyway so TimeLine? why not

nothing is wrong with fb timeline people need to learn how to secure their personal lives and put locks on things.

this is nonsense just a client side modification.

I mainly hate it from a design perspective...it doesn't make it any easier to find info or see what someone's posted, etc. It's actually rather counter-intuitive, it's as if they just updated the layout for the sake of updating it, much like the many useless youtube renovations over the past few years.

"Just when you got used to this layout, we have a new one to disorient you with, and the best part is: we're forcing it on you!"

Well overall at first it may seem confusing. But what Timeline does is essentially cut out all of the useless status updates/small events on someone's page and only shows the "important" stuff unless you click to expand that particular time period.

That alone I like since when I rarely look at a friends page(i usually only look at my news feed page or pictures) I don't have to look at 100 status updates that don't matter.

Take my page for example. The towards the top are mainly status updates or small groups of recent pictures. Then as I head back in the years I mainly see stuff like my vacations, brothers wedding, graduation, etc. Much easier looking back than before.

I don't think it's terrible, but I'm not willing to change yet to used to the original format.
