I'm currently using Google Chrome and according to Microsoft's browser security test, Google Chrome is rated 2.5 out of 4 while IE is rated a perfect 4 out of 4. Probably more just a marketing ploy from Microsoft.
Difference here is that this report was clearly established by an independent organisation.
Of course, a grain of salt is required as Google commissioned it, but the big difference between this and the Microsoft test is that on this report, actual research was done, and the Microsoft test appears to be doing nothing else than checking if your browser is Internet Explorer.
i know right. a lot of these test omit opera completely.
while i find it unfair, i think a lot of it is based on popularity of the browsers and according to some other research, opera browser isnt used as much.
but i still use opera. 11.60 is running like silk on my pc.
Good for Chrome but I still like IE9 the best out of them all as it works best for me. Chrome is good if you use Google as your search but I use Bing and IE is better for that and also I work in IT and all 3rd party explorers give problems on some web pages I have to go on so for me IE is my choice.
Actually, IE is the best browser for large scale implementation because of the control you have over the browser from your administration server. When I worked IT, I used Firefox on my machine, but having regular people use it is risky because of the 3rd party software they can introduce. Chrome is even worse because you don't need admin privileges to install it, and depending on your firewall setup, it can actually bypass some filters.
It's one thing to use i.e. for business/work stations/network management etc. (which I totally agree with & understand) ~ but for personal?! (which is the way I took that he meant it)
You could easily/simply use Chrome with an IE extension when you run into that 1 odd site that is not compatible and have everything right there if needed.
Then to top it off touting Bing...it sounds like an advertisement more than a reasonable comment/post to me (though re-reading my own post it does come off incorrectly as to what I really meant which is why I clarified it in this one ~ so my apologies).
Why do you feel sorry for he company i work for? Do you work in it? Firefox chrome and opera maybe better browsers to use for facebook twitter java games and for what most home users use it for but for most stuff we use it for ie is the better browser. Using sharepoint, ms tech net ect ie is better than the other browsers plus some web sites dont show up right on chrome or firefox but they do on ie.
Also have you used ie9? Because i cant seem to find any difference in how it works and speed than using chrome or firefox. The other thing is i use bing as my search engine not google and just like chrome is built for google ie is built for bing.
Also as they guy says below you because ie is a microsoft product you have more control over the browser than on chrome or fire fox theough using group policys. As tool bars get installed by users who dont know what there doing which slows there webbrowser down and in some cases installs spyware on there pcs so for me its a no brainer to force people to use ie as we know it works with everything they need it too keeps the pcs safe because of the gpo's we have in place and also gives us less work in cleaning up pcs when users mess them up.

Mainly an artefact of its market share. Standard, correct HTML and CSS coding is displayed correctly on all browsers in every case, with the exception of Internet Explorer. It always needs special settings, and requires a lot of hacks before a website displays correctly.
Ps. If any company forced me to use IE, I would quit my job there.
