Pocket-Lint: The launch of the HTC Rhyme saw the Taiwanese manufacturer tiptoeing around its words. With a cleaned-up homescreen, colours that were anything but black and a name that lacked the usual superstar aggression, HTC did everything it could to avoid saying that the Rhyme was a phone designed for girls.
Engadget - The HTC Rhyme is one of the newest additions to the Verizon wireless line-up, setting itself apart from the rest of the family since it's specifically for women -- or hipsters who like purple. This time around, the company decided to focus on the accessories, leading its marketing campaign with a glowing purse charm to avoid missing calls -- a fate all too familiar for gals whose phone is oftentimes buried at the bottom of a Louis Vuitton.
Bright Hub: You know how phones just look too butch? Nope, me either, but apparently HTC think there's a gap in the market for girly phones. Ladies and gentleman meet the HTC Rhyme complete with matching accessories. Just in time too, phones are far too gender neutral - sigh.
There aren't specific phones just for boys, or specific toothbrushes to cater for the different sexes, so why do we need a special girly phone?
There probably isn't a need for phones that are specifically made for women, but it is a fact that devices that are pink will sell to girls. So it does work, which is why the manufacturers make them e.g. DS and PSP as well as Motorola's RAZR which was typically seen as a guy's phone, but when it was released in pink it sold very well.
Agreed, I mean why not just include a pink skin case in the phone package instead? But like gaffyh said, girls do like pink thinks, haha.
HTC Rhyme which was announced a couple of days ago has finally got a release date for UK consumers’, the device comes with sleek design and color will be released in UK via O2 UK in October 17. The carrier claims that it will be the only carrier to do that, yet there are no details on pricing or plan that the carrier may offer the device for.
