Android Takes Almost 50% Share of Worldwide Smart Phone Market

48 percent of all smart phones that was shipped from the factory during the second quarter of 2011, was running Android as an operating system, according to a press release from the research firm Canalys.

Android has quickly become a giant in the smart phone market. No fewer than 51.9 million Android-equipped phones was shipped from the factories during the second quarter of 2011.

This is an increase of almost five times compared to the same period last year. The operating system is also said to be the most popular in 35 of the 56 countries that Canalys collected data from.

and rim

android has the most devices.

im also pullin a patcher here and saying that more companies will dev tablets and make their own os because Microsoft isnt dominant on those territories like on windows and linux. an os is vastly more complex. but hp doesnt find android tablets or ios tablets to be a threat so we might see 7 tablet os by the end of 2012
