Samsung Nexus S 4G hits the FCC

Engadget: Sprint still isn't offering anything more specific than "this spring" for a Nexus S 4G launch date, but it looks like we may now at least be one step closer to a release. The Google-approved phone just turned up at the FCC this weekend under the guise of "SPH-D720," which we've already had some indication was indeed Nexus S 4G's model number, and which has also turned up on Samsung's own site for the phone before being removed for one reason or another (see an image of the cached site after the break).

Sprint announces ICS for the Nexus S 4G, official download now available

Engadget - To all the broken-hearted owners of the Nexus S 4G waiting for their chance to play with an official build of Ice Cream Sandwich: wait no longer. Sprint announced in a forum post (and subsequently on Twitter) that it's finally ready to unleash Android 4.0.4 to the anxious masses -- not just the adventurous souls willing to try out the leaked version last weekend.

Pay Your Train Ticket on Your Phone

It’s all aboard the smartphone craze for New Jersey Transit. The nation’s third-largest public transit service will become the nation’s first public transportation agency to partner with Google Wallet (a new service that allows customers to use their smartphones to pay for goods at retailers).
The public-private partnership, which was developed at no cost to NJ Transit, will allow passengers to wave their smartphone in front of ticketing booths rather than digging for cash or credit cards as they rush to catch their trains.
“Transit is the fastest way to accelerate adoption and reach usage density in major urban centers by habituating the behavior of tapping and paying with phones,” said Stephanie Tilenius, vice president of commerce at Google, in the official statement.

Nexus S 4G Update Paves the Way for Google Wallet?

Mashable: The Nexus S 4G smartphone from Sprint will receive several important updates, including NFC support, on July 11, according to a screenshot unearthed by SprintFeed.

Since the Nexus S 4G was to be the first phone to support Google’s wireless mobile payment solution, Google Wallet, the fact that the device is finally getting NFC support might mean it’s time for Google Wallet to finally go live.
