IGN: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play UK Review

The idea of a PlayStation phone certainly isn't a new thing. When the original PSP was announced back in the mid-2000s rumour was that a mobile device would be released alongside the standalone console. Gamers kept waiting, but this never happened. Now, six years after the PSP was released, the PlayStation phone, Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play is finally available.

I have one and emulators are so much fun on the move with proper controls. PSone games work great too. I just would like a wider choice but it is to be expected at launch.

Isn't that the point of a PlayStation phone?. I mean that's why the NGP it's coming out for, to satisfy all your Handheld needs.

Yea true, but at that price one would expect something more. Not just a phone that's "PlayStation Certified".

Lots of people still dont 'get' what this phone is about. With everyone comparing it to the NGP/3DS, that'd be like comparing any phone with a keyboard to a laptop.
This is a great Android phone with the benefit of a control pad. If you only play Angry birds, then its not the phone for you. If you'd like some FPS action while sat on the bus/train/loo then this is perfect. And as said above, its perfect for emulators.
