Self-cooling observed in graphene elctronics

With the first observation of thermoelectric effects at graphene contacts, University of Illinois researchers found that graphene transistors have a nanoscale cooling effect that reduces their temperature.

The story is too old to be commented.

just imagine how small devices will get once there is no need for huge heatsinks

This is great news. THere was a theory going that with the rate of current semi-conductors shrinking in size, the heat output could become quite intense. My laptop alone can pretty turn into a makeshift a couple eggs, a steak and what not... gets really hot.

This can also save some electricity by not having to power huge exhaust fans.
