Pocket-Lint: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a flagship handset from a company that was on the back foot in 2010. It brings with it a wave of exciting technologies - the Exmor R sensor, the Mobile Bravia Engine - it hits the right numbers too - 4.2 inches, Android 2.3.2, 8.1 megapixels, 8.7mm. It’s an overt design expression, a reaction to the criticism of the Xperia X10, which was fat, sluggish and out-dated. We fell for it when it was announced at CES 2011, but was that just an impulsive marriage at the Chapel O’ Love, or does that relationship have a future?
We start this review with a confession; none of our team have touched a Sony Ericsson (SE) phone in quite a few years. That meant we found ourselves opening the Arc’s box with much trepidation, this being one of SE’s flagship Xperia mobiles and a signal that they are looking to muscle in on the smartphone market currently dominated by the likes of RIM, HTC, Samsung and not least Apple.
Engadget - The Xperia Arc is one the best handsets we've seen from Sony Ericsson, but US consumers have had to sit by and watch as the thing popped up in other markets around the world -- until now, that is. The unlocked AT&T-compatible quad-band 3G handset just hit Sony's store.
Engadget: Well, it's not yet confirming the "late April" launch date that leaked out yesterday, but Rogers has now just started accepting pre-orders for both the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Xperia Arc, each of which will run you $99.99 on a three-year contract (there's no indication of off-contract pricing).
