Engadget: Let's be honest, the original Dell Streak had a bit of an identity crisis. The 5-inch device wasn't sure if it belonged in the tablet or smartphone world, and ultimately it was targeted at a pretty niche user. But its larger brother, the Streak 7, is more self-aware.
AppSplit: "If you own a Dell Streak 5 and waiting anxiously for a Gingerbread update then you are in luck today, as Dell has officially released the Gingerbread update for the Dell Streak 5. You can simply download the update file [155 MB] that is available on Dell’s website"
Pocket-Lint: The Dell Streak 7 has finally reached the UK, having been available in the USA since the beginning of February on T-Mobile USA.
The Dell Streak 7, is the bigger brother of the Dell Streak 5 and will cost £299 without contract – incidentally the same price as the Samsung Galaxy Tab after a bevy of price drops in recent months.
Walter Mossberg of WSJ and All Things Digital writes: "If you could get a tablet for the price of a smart phone, and if it also worked on one of the new, faster, 4G-class cellular networks, you’d jump at the chance, right? Dell and T-Mobile hope so, and that’s why they’ve brought out the Dell Streak 7, at just $200 with a two-year service contract."
The batteries will always be the achilles heel of modern portable devices. Strides in batteries need to catch up to the devices using them.
