Lovefilm lands on Sony SMP-N100 netbox

Pocket-Lint: Lovefilm has announced the latest platform for its movie-streaming service - the Sony Bravia SMP-N100 network media player.

The move, which brings the movie rental service to the netbox arena for the first time, extends Lovefilm's ever growing reach. In 2010 we saw the platform land on Sony Bravia TVs, Blu-ray players and home cinema systems, as well as PS3s and selected Samsung devices too.

Choose Netflix UK For TV Shows, Amazon’s LOVEFiLM Instant For Films, Study Suggests

TechCrunch - The ongoing war between rival on-demand streaming services as they build out their catalogues to win customers by having the most enticing content means rarely a week goes by without news of another content licensing deal being inked between the streamers and the studios. Earlier this week, for instance, LOVEFiLM signed a streaming deal with NBC Universal – covering “hundreds” of TV shows such as the U.S. version of The Office and 30 Rock. But with all this noise it can be tough to figure out how substantial the catalogues of rival services actually are.

Lovefilm now on Wii U too

Pocket-Lint: Having made its debut on the Nintendo Wii last week, the Lovefilm app on the Wii U has now been activated.

An icon has appeared on the UK Wii U GamePad since launch (and, in fact, even beforehand - with review machines proudly sporting it), but until now it has not worked. Spark it up today, however, and you will be able to access your Lovefilm Instant account - after an update has downloaded and installed, of course.
