AMD R9 Fury X Could Be Impacted by Liquid Cooling Lawsuit

GamersNexus: "The trial can be boiled down to Cooler Master's usage of a coldplate-mounted liquid cooling pump, something for which Asetek holds a patent. Cooler Master's Seidon, Nepton, and Glacier liquid coolers use a pump atop the cold plate, which the court ruled to be patent infringement committed against Asetek. Cooler Master also makes AMD's R9 Fury X liquid cooling solution, which has interesting possibilities for the AMD product; it is yet unclear if the Fury X will be affected by the court ruling against Cooler Master, but the design is similar enough for there to be concern. The Fury X CLC hosts its pump atop the coldplate, which is the heart of these patent lawsuits."

Asetek v. Cooler Master Liquid Cooling Patent Lawsuit

GamersNexus: "All this known, Asetek has initiated suit against Cooler Master for its new Seidon sealed-liquid CPU coolers, which we briefly mentioned in a previous TechRAID episode; Asetek's legal department claims to have issued a C&D to CM back in November, citing infringement upon their patented liquid cooling design (to include the pump). The patents—8245764 and 8240362—are both to protect Aseteks' use of a pump connected by hose to a radiator in a closed, non-maintained loop. If this statement comes off as slightly tinged with sarcasm, that's because it is.
