Explain what "catfishing" is as we're not all 12 years old.

demonicale1888d ago

How about not using slang in a title and speak English instead?

KnowTechie1888d ago

Catfishing is a very common term.

Not to me. It's the first time I hear it.

Whoah, slow down there sassafras. Catfishing is a fairly common term and if you are ever unsure of a word you can always look it up in the dictionary, or read the article where the term is explained. There was a documentary on catfishing about ten years ago, it was called 'catfish', there was also a pretty successful show by the same name which has run for over 7 seasons. If knowtechie created an article titled "Dtmf and Spoofing the downfall of phone systems as we know it" I wouldn't expect someone to ask what Dtmf or Spoofing was, I would expect it to be explained in the article at least. Slang or common terminology instead of a long drawn out title is simply more effective communication. Now if you had taken the 5 minutes to read the article you wouldn't have asked such a silly question. I would like to also mention that you have complained about this on other articles wherewords are used that are common in the American vocabulary(robocall, amongst others) This will always be a problem for you as I find that when I read the article on your complaints the term is always explained or detailed in the content, which you seem not to read. I don't understand every word I read and if I don't I'll read the content around the word and learn something. Imagine trying to create a title for an article about manspreading or an article about money, specifically quid to an international audience. It's not easy but as long as the article or surrounding content is put well enough together you learn a new word, or term.
