Can this do 4K / 60 FPS in AAA games like Far Cry 5 at max settings?

Cobra9512186d ago (Edited 2186d ago )

I would bet all the money in my pocket that the answer to that is a no. Not at 4K. The GTX1060 has trouble maintaining 60 fps at high settings across the board at 1080p (let alone max) in FC5, and the GTX1080ti isn't quite 4 times as powerful as the 1060. Even if the GTX1180 is 20% more powerful than the 1080ti, it still ain't gonna be enough for your target, I don't think. Only benchmarks will tell for sure.

CurbStompin2186d ago (Edited 2186d ago )

Well considering I can acheive 4K 100fps with my 1080ti, the answer is Yes. It all comes down to settings, quality, overclocks, etc...

Please hand over all the money in your pocket.

tontontam02186d ago (Edited 2186d ago )

lol people who don't own a 1080 ti are underestimating it. I upgraded from gtx 1060 and it is 4x as powerful.

Korix2186d ago

It depends a lot on the game. The 1080 TI can run Doom at 4K ultra, easily keeping it over 60 fps, but Doom is better optimized than most games. Some games can look considerably worse and still not run nearly as well. It's very much a case by case thing with performance, but 4K Ultra 60fps is already a doable with several AAA games on a 1080 TI, so the next step will make even more games doable.

Here is the original source of this story, as far as I can tell:

"We’ve already reported that the new 7nm Vega will be exclusively for machine learning and neural networks."

What a low down piece of trash thing to do NVIDIA! After hyping up Vega for so long, you come out and make this crappy decision?

CurbStompin2186d ago (Edited 2186d ago )

Vega is AMD technology. I believe you mean Volta...

I wonder whats the point in releasing these expensive cards, I mean there are no PC games available that utilizes this kind of GPU power, and NO! paying this kind of money to play games 4k at 60 or 120 fps is just a waste of money, what's the point of higher resolution if your whole game environment is static as hell?, I mean is a serious waste of GPU performance, PC games should look like CGI by now, and this CGI type visuals should be 100 % real time playable and not only that physics should be a norm in PC games but sadly the reality about PC games is all the opposite. Probably the only good thing of this expensive are just for some bitcoin miners sadly.

PC games should be years ahead of console gaming cause of this overpowered GPUs but the reality is other, console gaming with less the GPU power it seems are the ones that are years ahead of PC gaming, think I'm joking ?, well see it for your self, go and see God of War, Detroit: Become Human, trailers of the New Spider Man, trailer of the new Last of Us, go and see that Uncharted 4 action sequences, go and Infamous SS and open world game with CGI visuals and a very dynamic environment .

ethereal_trespasser2186d ago

Unfortunately you're right, but the 1080TI still can't mange 4K at 60FPS. It just misses the mark. This should help with that. Also, this will hopefully help with the GPU shortage too. It's basically 1080Ti+ performance at a slightly cheaper price

Cobra9512186d ago

I said as much, higher up. I'll refer the doubters to Digital Foundry. The 1060 at 1080p gets a slightly better frame rate than the 1080ti at 2160p, other things being equal. That still means the 1080ti can fill nearly 4 times as many pixels as the 1060 under the same load. No mean feat, but 4K at 60fps is still tough to achieve at high-to-max settings on FC5 and other demanding games.

tontontam02186d ago (Edited 2186d ago )

wtf is this fanboy comment, there are tons of rich kid out there who will find your comment funny you are like a salty poor kid who are jealous that people can actually waste money on these stuff.

Citing exclusives does not help the rich kids who can afford these setups also have consoles. the only pc gamers who bashes console games are those people who are wanna be rich kids that have monster setup but in reality they are just pirating games and can't afford consoles because they have no money to buy legit games.

if possible these people would buy multiple ps4 to play these games at 8k. polyphony digital did a demo on gt connecting multiple ps3 to play gt at higher resolution.

ChrisW2186d ago

I usually buy the GTX --80 lines. My first was 480, then 680, and now I have a 980. The best thing about buying high end cards is that a couple years down the road you can play new games at ... wait... I just read the rest of your post... you're a Sony Sheep and not worth the time trying to explain simple-minded things to.
